What would you do with this hair?

I'm so bored of my hair, I've been growing it out in the hope of feeling more modern/youthful, this is about as long as I think it'll go without turning into a head of rats tails.

It's just so thin and fine. It won't hold a curl, it makes the thinnest most pathetic pony tail so I can't tie it up. It just hangs there.

There's no colour on it at the moment. I'm thinking maybe some colour might improve things but what?

Wolf cut

DrPayne · 24/06/2022 18:46

cut it to a healthy length and work on thickening it and growing it or wear wigs.

Rina66 · 24/06/2022 19:48

I always think colour helps to swell your hair and it appears thicker. Also agree with a Revlon one step, really will add volume.

Selection of hats?

Wouldloveanother · 25/06/2022 08:06

i think all you can really do with hair like this is get very fine high/low lights to give it ‘depth’, with a money piece at the front. A block colour just makes it look flatter/finer. Learn how to blow dry using a root lift spray.

I've got really similar hair.

When younger a pixie cut worked well. I've grown it out now as didn't suit me so much when older (45+). What works best when longer is just above shoulder length, highlights, moneypiece. I rough blow dry it then use a round hot brush to just straighten out the kinks. Takes all of about 4 minutes as my hair is so fine.

Oblomov22 · 25/06/2022 08:17

Mine looks similarly boring and drab. I don't know what to do with mine.

Just going by the description!

What the hell is a 'money piece' ?

Wouldloveanother · 25/06/2022 08:27

A lighter strip at the front of the hair. Like Helen Skelton.

girlmom21 · 25/06/2022 08:32

Two French plaits?

OutDamnedSpot · 25/06/2022 08:32

I have similarly fine hair and have recently rediscovered Velcro rollers. I put four or five in along my parting at bedtime, sleep in them, and wake up with much more ‘body’ than usual. The ‘soft’ ones (best for sleeping in) are £2.50 in Boots. Worth a try!

Get a voloom, there are fake ones on Amazon it's a game changer x
