I can't wear suits (too short and dumpy)
I'd like to be inspired by you lovely lot !

I have an interview on Monday but it’s via video-call so maybe not helpful for you as I only need a top half. The post is teaching/lecturing in a creative subject area. I am dithering between two options - a black and red blouse from Zara with bishop sleeves and a pussy bow neck, or a checked dress from Monki which again has big sleeves. Red lipstick, nice nails, big hoop earrings. (Pj bottoms)

i don’t imagine people wear suits much now unless the job is eg senior finance manager. I might be completely wrong there though.

I usually wear a nice blazer with contrasting trousers/skirt. I find the matchy matchiness of a suit doesn’t suit me and I can then find items that fit properly. I like the cigarette trousers from H&M and have some nice more relaxed fit blazers from Sainsburys! Last interview I was 36 weeks pregnant so I just wore whatever fit with a blazer undone over the top.

I interviewed a couple of months ago. There were two interviews and for the first I wore a smart blouse as over zoom. It was cornflower blue from mango. For the second I did wear a suit but with a lovely blouse and skirt both from Reiss. How about a blouse and skirt combo?

I've ordered couple of dresses but love the idea of blouse and skirt - I do worry I'm too round/ shirt though. What kind of style of each were you thinking ?

@polkapip a dress is good too! Karen Millen have some lovely ones. What is your shape like? I wore a fitted pencil skirt

I wore a blouse with a slouchy blazer over it and some tartan patterned tapered trousers to add a bit of interest.

tokyotea · 22/06/2022 13:08

With blocked heeled loafers. I felt good!

I'm a 14 5'2", 34D boobs but belly is an issue so not sure I can do pencil skirt as it would highlight belly. I've ordered a couple of dresses - high neck and short sleeves and one shirt dress but will check Karen M. Also got patterned slim fit trousers and a navy monsoon blouse but it's a bit yawn

Depends on the sector. I've been both the interviewer and interviewee a few times in the past 6 months and my go-to is always a smart blazer, usually with something more informal under, but my sector is not corporate. The blazer immediately makes the outfit that bit smarter, especially as I wouldn't wear them for work normally unless it's for a specific meeting or something. Most recently I wore a taupe/black striped fit & flare shaped knee-length dress with a black 3/4 sleeve open blazer and black tights and shoes.
