So yes, the red jacket ( I posted this just before finishing up the last thread ... ) I am so pleased with it! It feels like a 'forever classic' I just have the Ginkgo print nightie to arrive now..

So that'll be just three things I have bought from this sale, not too dangerous !

Jacket looks great @Laska2Meryls i was thinking of checking it out after all the reports but it’s gone!

faustina · 18/06/2022 14:06

That jacket looks lovely on your Laska. I was thinking of going to Cambridge for their Toast circle thing but it's raining and I'm not sure if I can be arsed. Out of interest, can you return sale items to shops?

Snowyowl78 · 18/06/2022 14:07

I’m waiting for todays post for my next sale parcel!

Saurus72 · 18/06/2022 14:26

Really nice to be back for Toast sale chat, have enjoyed reading about successes and fails - from what I’ve read it seems like we’re being v judicious in what we keep, I’m certainly buying v little this year (tho honestly not for the want of trying…). My order arrived this morning.

The fique pouch/raffia clutch is going back, too homemade-looking for me.

The gathered sleeve dry organic tee in slate also going back. I couldn’t really think when I would wear it apart from with PJ bottoms and it’s quite an expensive option just for that.

I’m very torn re: my final purchase, the fair isle yoke sweater. I like the colours, don’t have anything like it but just not 100% sure. At £110 I really need to be certain. Not sure if it’s flattering. Any thoughts welcome!

Snowyowl78 · 18/06/2022 14:44

@Saurus72 i like the fairisle! I don’t think it’s unflattering at all! I know sometimes fairisles can make the shoulder zone seem bigger due to the round pattern, but I don’t think this is a problem here.

oh dear all three arrivals today big success- pecan trousers, hazel jumper and stripe alpaca jumper all good. I tried the alpaca in a M when it came out and didn’t like it but it is much improved by going up in size

Saurus72 · 18/06/2022 14:48

Thanks @Snowyowl78 - commiserations re: your 3 successes 😉. Best to buy what you love though.

Snowyowl78 · 18/06/2022 14:49

I love the pecan trousers thanks for whoever recommended! They are very cool

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2022 14:58

Have just been to the Edinburgh circle event. Nothing at all that jumped out at me. Lots of very very old and quite worn looking items. So that was disappointing.
Also a bit disappointing was my sale parcel which arrived this morning…
Rain hat was ridiculously small, and I don’t have a very big head.
Japanese trousers are lovely quality, but I think a bit too long and a bit too much of a large check for me as I am short. I’m just not sure they don’t just look like pyjamas. Someone on the last thread had got them…I can’t remember who that was, but how do do plan on wearing them?
Hazel jumper is fab, but I should have gone with M rather than S. It fits, but I like my knitwear slouchy, so still undecided. Of course they are no longer in stock. @Snowyowl78 , what size did you go for in it, and is that your usual Toast knitwear size? What do you think of the fit?
The fruit picking basket was very squashed, and compared to the Hogla storage basket I already have, the quality didn’t seem as good. Not sure what I would use it for, so that is going back.
Poplin pj shirt is lovely. But I am kind of between the 10 and the 12. The 10 looks better but it feels a touch tight on the upper arms. The 12 feels comfier but looks too big overall though. I am often guilty of erring on the larger side as I value comfort, but then realising that is not always flattering. So still deciding on that too. Does poplin shrink at all?

AFingerofFudge · 18/06/2022 14:58

@Saurus72 it's a yes from me for the Fairisle jumper, I love it!

And thanks for the new thread @Laska2Meryls - you seem to be as pleased with your red jacket as I am with mine, yours looks great on you!

I have returned my unwanted sale items already, and now debating doing another order for the ash shirt and the orange cord workwear dress.

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2022 14:58

That was quite an essay, sorry!

dudsville · 18/06/2022 14:59

@Saurus72 I love that jumper, such a pretty colour and nice against your skin tone. I think it fits your shoulders nicely re the fair isle bit and the rest looks like a good fit too, the sleeves look a little long but you can fold them up. Nicely paired withthe skirt!

How funny @Snowyowl78 , I've certainly been there!

I've taken the sleeves up on the blue check "little house" dress and it's now a lot more like the olive oil dress in shape. I'm toying with replacing the cream/white buttons with blue herringbone style ones.

Thanks for the thread @Laska2Meryls !

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2022 15:00

@Saurus72 i love the fairisle! And @Laska2Meryls the red jacket looks great on you. I would have ordered that if I ever wore red. I tried the Piu previously (more than once!) as I loved the idea of it, but it was too heavy and bulky.

Snowyowl78 · 18/06/2022 15:00

@ScottishMouse i got the M and I think it’s fine. I usually get M or large. It’s quite short tho but I don’t mind that and I think it will look good tucked into trousers as it’s quite thin too

Snowyowl78 · 18/06/2022 15:02

eg I have the lace yoke one in L

dudsville · 18/06/2022 15:04

I think two of us from the previous thread got those japanese trousers @ScottishMouse . For me, it is a style shift. I have nothing else like them. At 5'7" mine are cropped, depending on where I have the waist band (my natural wasit is quite high. But I can see them being quite versatile - airports, home, nipping out, etc., and they could be dressed up - though not like anything I would normally wear. I bought the short sleeved faded black looking tee and they look great together. I've gone back and bought the white tee in the same style as I love the shape of the teeshirt so much and it will also go with these trousers.

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2022 15:05

Thanks @Snowyowl78 . I never tried the lace yoke one, but I vary between s and m in Toast sweaters. I think maybe it is how short it is that is making me think it’s too small. It probably isn’t, and is just me trying to hide my perimenopausal body in too big clothes again!

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2022 15:07

Thanks @dudsville, I will have to try them again with different tops. They are definitely comfy, so that is in their favour. Which tshirt was that?

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2022 15:20

The Japanese trousers are also a little like the checked cotton cashmere Alix I got in the last sale. I have them on here with the maybe too small hazel sweater. Would I choose the Japanese trousers over them in the morning?

Saurus72 · 18/06/2022 15:22

The jumper definitely doesn’t look too small on you to me @ScottishMouse . the checked trousers also look really nice.

dudsville · 18/06/2022 15:25

It's the Cotton Short Sleeve Circular Tee @ScottishMouse , they're £35 in the sale.

SmaugMum · 18/06/2022 15:30

Long time, no see! I don’t think I made an appearance on the last thread at all. I mourn the thrill of the 70 per cent off bargains at JL; I still check intermittently, just on the off-chance…

Anyway, reporting for duty to join in the summer sale chat:

I succumbed to the Patchwork & Ikat gown after covering it for months; it is a thing of beauty but is still silly expensive at half price. I could possibly wear this as an outdoor garment over some of my Ikat dresses or my Jessa dungarees, but it will most definitely earn its keep and I like to think of it as an heirloom piece that one of my two daughters might like to inherit

the Oxford shirt dress in Olive Oil, plus some coordinating striped marl socks; I’ve developed a thing for Ochre and yellow and feel ready to wear such a brightly coloured dress after thinking about it for a year

a Pottery West vase (I’m a bit of a ceramics geek)

2 x packs of the wax wraps; we are all converted from foil and cling-film and I really like the subtle shades of these wraps, plus the use of linen rather than cotton

2 x sets of the linen wheat pillows, as I fancy the idea of lying down in a darkened room with a luxuriously fragranced soothing mask (it’s been a very difficult year for us as a family for a multitude of reasons). These are incredible value in the sale as the accompanying essential oils are worth £21 and the set is priced at less than half price.

Loving all the sale solidarity and chat here! It’s nice to be back among friends.

Saurus72 · 18/06/2022 15:32

Hi @SmaugMum , ah the Pottery West ceramics are beautiful. I keep looking at the tea bowls in slate which look beautiful. For double espressos not tea tho!

Saurus72 · 18/06/2022 15:34

Also @SmaugMum sorry to hear you’re having a rubbish year.
