ScottishMouse Was it you that tried the flat front pecan trousers? ..
The reviews say that the waist is large , did you find that? I if I should size down or not .. I usually find that Toast fixed waists are small, but being relatively slim in the hip , to get them around my waist , the fixed waist trousers often feel too big elsewhere ..

Just checking in . Thanks for getting the new thread going @Laska2Meryls

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2022 18:24

Yes, that was me @Laska2Meryls. I think we are a similar shape. I did find them larger on the waist than other fixed waist Toast trousers. They were very nearly right, but not quite. I tried an 8 and a 10 (for reference I am an 8 in Alix & Gabi). The 10 was perfect on the waist but too big on the hips/bum, and 8 was perfect on the hips/bum, but a little too small on the waist. But with other fixed waist styles, the 8 wouldn’t go near my waist, and even the 10 has been too small on the waist. Hope that helps. They are really lovely if you can get the fit right.

TheChattyRat · 07/03/2022 18:29

Checking in to the new thread.
@ScottishMouse those trousers sound nice (the gingham ones) - lovely to waft about in the summer.
Another random question from me - the Annie jeans - how long are they? Some reviews suggest they are quite cropped but the online pic suggests otherwise. Anyone got them?

Countmeout · 07/03/2022 18:37

🙋🏻‍♀️ Me @TheChattyRat. I have them. I am 5’4. I would say they are the length on me as on the model showing the indigo ones which is what I have. I think mine look more flared though. I took my normal non toast size in them. But I do wear them loads, they were a good buy,

TheChattyRat · 07/03/2022 18:41

Thanks @Countmeout so is the waist a bit tighter than usual then if you took your non toast size?

faustina · 07/03/2022 18:45

I asked about the new Alixes on the online chat today, if anyone else is waiting, and they said they hope to have them by the end of the month

faustina · 07/03/2022 18:45

Forgot to say thanks for the new thread @Laska2Meryls!

applecatchers36 · 07/03/2022 18:53

The chatty rat yes I have the Annie's and they do have a neat waist so your non toast usual size is a good bet

Countmeout · 07/03/2022 18:58

Yes neat waist @TheChattyRat. No elastic unfortunately.

The Alix seem to taking forever but that’s good to know @faustina.

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/03/2022 19:10

Checking in to the new thread, thanks @Laska2Meryls.

I visited a Toast shop today: it was buzzing, a constant stream of customers both young and old. I was listening in as I tried a few things on! Apparently the next drop of clothes will be the beginning of May. They were also saying that Men's Toast will have a summer range dropping in. I could hear (and later saw) a woman who I would say was in her late 70s/early 80s, saying she had visited the men's shop and bought herself something. I couldn't catch what she said she had bought. I only glimpsed her but she looked super stylish. She was also very dainty so intriuging to think what she might have bought.

One customer also came in and bought her secondary aged daughter some socks and a blouse: I think it was the Ash Check Ruffle Neck Shirt. I bought this too. As someone previously said, it is quite pinky in colour and is really very delicate and lovely. The ruffle neck is particularly nice.

Laska2Meryls · 07/03/2022 19:24

Thanks Scottish Mouse that is very useful.. I liked the look of them when they first came out but had held back, but now I have seen the price of the new Brass Alix , I think I will order the pecan ones after all and will size down..
..
The replacement pair of space dye trousers I ordered came today and the fabric is much better (not so 'slubby' ) so the original ones are going back ..

ToastcosIloveit What did you try on? Any new recommendations for us?

Thanks for setting up the new thread @Laska2Meryls

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2022 19:46

Well I just tried the gingham trousers on for my sister and she said they should definitely go back! I trust her opinion, and she is right that they will probably get in my way too much in my job and life. She also thinks I am too short for them, which was my initial thought when I tried them. I think I was swayed by the shop assistant who was wearing them looking so great in them. Hmmmmm…..the sensible part of my brain says return them, but I may hang onto them for a few days and see how I feel about them then.
She also said the shorts look very frumpy.
I sort of wish I hadn’t asked her, but I do find it hard to judge sometimes when something looks good on the model/someone else/I love the look of it.

Laska2Meryls · 07/03/2022 19:52

Can you post a photo ScottishMouse ?

OP posts:
ToastCosILoveIt · 07/03/2022 19:54

@Laska2Meryls, yes, there was some trying on to get a few things out of my system. The square collar poplin dress in montella looked absolutely awful on me, very frumpy and, curse of some toast dress, the arm holes were huge and showed my bra. I wasn't even tempted.

The fine stripe cotton linen dress in crift green and a size 10 (I am a high street 12) was lovely but the material had that sort of washed look that could look a bit scruffy.

The pintuck chambrey dress is absolutely lovey. it is big - i got into an 8 which was a tiny bit tight on the bust but i didn't bother trying on the 10 as no way am I paying £225 for it. What might not be clear from the website is that the pintuck is on the bodice part of the back too. It is lovely.

I tried on the cotton linen shirt dress again just to reassure myself that it isn't for me and it isn't.

The fir check cotton dress looked lovely in the shop but huge (very wide looking). I didn't try it on.

faustina · 07/03/2022 20:03

@ScottishMouse - they look fabulous ! Keep them!

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/03/2022 20:05

I did buy some stuff too. The ash check ruffle neck shirt which is very pretty, the space check gingham shorts in a medium which are great, the Oxford easy shirt in chambray - i tried the blue colour on for size as they didnt have the white in a 10 but i liked it so much that I bought the blue one. it is very stylish and will look great with jeans or with the shorts when it is warmer.

i also bought the denim workwear coat in a 10. I have resisted it for a while but tried it on this time and it is lovely.

Finally, I bought the collared cotten linen tee in dark navy which is lovely with jeans or under pinafores or jumpsuits etc.

I also glimpsed the garment dyed linen easy dress in yellow glow. I know it will be marmite but I thought it looked fab.

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/03/2022 20:08

Those trousers look fab on you @ScottishMouse. I saw them in store but i don't think they wil suit my apple shaped busty figure.

Laska2Meryls · 07/03/2022 20:11

Sadly I think that although they are lovely the do swamp you a bit scottishmouse.. I'd take them back, sorry

ToastcosIlove it.. I really liked the pintuck chambray dress, -its mu kind of thing and definitely my colour but I know that with my bust I'd probably look like a pregnant woman in a nightie in it.. Luckily the price puts me off ordering ! (I do also have a beach cover up something similar which I can get away with .. )

ScottishMouse you look wonderful in those trousers!

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2022 20:16

Excellent haul @ToastCosILoveIt. And I am a busty apple, so the gingham trousers might indeed work for you!
How long are the shorts on you? Like they look on the model? They are almost knee length on me, and I think this may be what makes them look frumpy on me. I could take them up, but am afraid it might be hard to do it very neatly given that the hem is much more obvious than if it were at the ankle on a pair of trousers.

ScottishMouse · 07/03/2022 20:18

Also @ToastCosILoveIt, tell me about the collared linen tee. I am intrigued by it. Can you wear it fully buttoned and turned over like a polo neck, or does it not really work?

TempleofZoom · 07/03/2022 20:24

I love the look of the Chambray pintuck dress @Laska2Meryls but I bought the Cotton Oxford dress in Chambray for £55 in the sale and cant really justify it at that price.
