How long does it take for hair colouring?

How long does it take you for your flour at the hairdresser and what do you get?

I have only one experience of having a colour done and it was 30 years ago, I sat for 5 hours while they fucked about opening and closing foils and panicking because it wasn't working. So, I haven't been to a hairdresser since until recently when I got a cut. I would love to have a colour properly done again but I'm autistic, anxious and can't bear the idea of sitting for that long!

My hair is salt and pepper now with dark brown and loads of grey and I usually box dye it at home so I guess that will have an impact too :(

I have a whole head colour every 6 weeks. I also have a regular trim done at the same time, and the whole thing takes about an hour and a half. I suspect special treatments (high/low lights, balayage etc) would take longer.

I have a full head/just roots, cut and blow dry and it takes 1.5 hours max in total.

I think asking for a full head would be your best bet as that should help with any worry of having box dyed your hair before.

Also I realise my experience was 20 years ago but it really looked no better than box dye (and it was a top salon)
