STEM women? What to wear with polo shirt!

Please could someone put me out my misery and suggest what I could wear (summer and winter) with a charcoal polo shirt?

Needs to be practical rather than smart. My current range of black bootcut office trousers and culottes look a bit daft with trainers and a polo shirt.

Also I'm overweight. I tried squeezing my arse into my husbands "builders shorts" and they just aren't cut for women. Amazon doesn't seem to do much equivalent for larger women, and I've never seen them at Next or M&S!

Please, please point me in the right direction

Can you wear jeans?

Cargo / combat style trousers. Lots of nice ones about.

Could wear jeans, but my jeans are all bootcut and I just feel a bit odd-looking in feminine flared jeans and a baggy polo. Also it's nice to wear something different at the weekend!

Will shop around for cargo trousers. Any idea where I could look for black cargo shorts in size 20/22?

Black slim leg jeans - M&S are good.

Chinos - depending on the trainer style you can turn the trouser legs up for a more summery look.

Chinos look good with a polo shirt, I've some lovely ones from Hobbs which I got second hand. Or if more casual I wear cargo trousers.

There is nothing wrong with looking feminin if you work in STEM. This morning I did my site walk around in navy chinos and a grey tiger print puff sleve top. The project manager had a lovely satin dusky pink blouse on with black skinny trousers. I just have to accept I may get mucky, hence the second hand Hobbs :)

Tuck or French tuck the polo shirt in too

I came to say cullottes as I'm wearing my work polo shirt tucked into cullottes right now, but I see you don't want that. I've also work it tucked in to a maxi skirt this week, but that probably doesn't suit what you want either.

Whatever you wear it with, tucking it in, at least at the front is the key to it looking ok I think.

@JM10 what shoes do you wear with culottes/skirts? I can't wear sandals which is what I normally would wear, and feel I look a bit of a tit in smart black culottes with a polo and trainers! My last job was so straight forward to dress for!

With the skirt, which is actually not quite maxi, I weat ankle boots. With the cullottes today I am wearing smartish trainers because I knew I didn't really need to leave the office. Sometimes loafers. A a pair of converse/supergs style trainers works with the cullottes, but you have to keep them clean and tidy.
