Joe Browns - tell me more? 100% cotton dresses

I needed a new homeware item and a drastically reduced one at Joe Browns came up in Google, so I got it and today I received one of their catalogues. Never heard of them before, and when I bought the homeware item assumed it was American like Target.

I like a lot of the stuff in it? It’s like Boden, but less expensive and without the lifestyle marketing. There’s sleeves, 100% cotton, midi.

Has anyone bought their clothes, what do you think? Is the stuff I’ve linked to below actually nice or have I fallen for catalogue marketing.

100% cotton daisy shirt dress www.joebrowns.co.uk/the-maybelle-shirt-dress-we522#colour=244

60s style leather knee high boots only £85! www.joebrowns.co.uk/the-spy-who-loved-me-boots-kb088#colour=679

100% cotton broderie dress unlined though www.joebrowns.co.uk/beautiful-broderie-dress-we587#colour=874

guess I’m just wondering what the catch is, at it seems a lot cheaper than other similar products.

I love the wrap style dresses: not too quirky and got some ditsy print plimsolls in the sale at Simplybe for £11. Perfect for summer.

I also get some from eBay. The lovely Victorian style boots were crap though as I kept losing the buttons.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I had tried replying throughout but new Mumsnet refreshes mid-reply which means I give up. Looks like it is worth trying. I don’t think Boden is overpriced because the stuff I’ve bought is 100% cotton, thick material, lined, washes well - was hoping this would be the same at a lower price point but sounds like lower quality fabric. I will keep flicking through the catalogue when it arrives, maybe some black ankle boots for winter. You can’t search the website by material either but they list the material in the catalogue.

I like the idea that if I bought a JB dress I’d be “spotted” by others in on it Grin

I second resewing buttons. Faddy to do but worth it.

I don’t have any of their stuff but feel like I see a lot of it in charity shops with the labels snipped out - maybe they donate old stock to charity shops? Might be worth a look

Not bought anything from there for years as it’s just not my style anymore but I remember always being very impressed with the quality even as a teenager who didn’t really care about that stuff.

I love it ! Their dresses are great quality and very flattering, in nice prints and colours. I've also had a few tops that I've loved. They're worth the money, better than Next etc. I buy a few pieces every year.
