Adidas Superstars v Stan Smiths - any difference in comfort levels?

I've worn Superstars for years and adore them, they're extremely comfy and good whatever the weather. I need a new pair of white trainers and was considering Stan Smiths for a change. Are they just as comfy? I need to be able to walk all day in them. I have narrow feet, no other issues. Ta

Probably not that helpful I've moved from Stan Smiths to Adidas 80s Continentals. So comfortable!

Lottapianos · 11/06/2022 17:55

They're quite nice, and good to know they're dead comfy 👍

I've worn Adidas Superstars, Gazelles and Sambas for years but I wore the Stan Smiths twice before giving up and eBaying them because they were so hellishly uncomfortable. They rubbed my heels raw even through socks and I couldn't have even tried to wear them again; to this day I don't know why when I never have trouble with the brand normally.

I love my Superstars. So, so comfortable

Lottapianos · 11/06/2022 21:32

Oh lord. Thats what I was afraid of. Thanks for the tip, will give them a miss 👍

I found Stan smiths incredibly uncomfortable. They rubbed my heel and didn't ever break it. They come high up the foot too so they rubbed the top of my foot. Not much padding under the foot either

LoveLabradors · 11/06/2022 22:00

I have them both (in vegan not leather) and I find the Stan Smiths slightly comfier.

I love my Stan smiths!

It's going to completely depend on your foot. These designs have been around forever and are hugely popular so obviously they fit many people really well. But they will not fit everyone. The experience of people on here will not be of much use as we all have different feet

I love my Adidas superstars
I had a pair of Stan Smith's but they were unsupportive and ripped my skin to pieces!
With footwear I stick to what I know!

rocketfromthecrypt · 12/06/2022 14:12

Stan Smiths are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, just blissful

Twotothreeagain · 12/06/2022 14:13

I've had both and find them both comfortable after minimal breaking in, despite being very prone to heel rubbing in most shoes. My current Stan Smith's are leather and I would love to get a new pair to replace them but I'm worried the vegan ones might not be as comfortable.. the leather ones don't seem to exist any more sadly.

I've got Continentals and Stan Smiths. The Continentals are definitely more comfortable; they have a less flat sole, more of an instep, whereas there's not much padding on the SSs at all. Also, my SSs are vegan, as well, which was a mistake. They don't breathe at all so your feet do get hotter. They look good, though 😉

I just sent back a pair of Stan smiths which were perfect in every way apart from the tongue. This was weirdly long on me and would have rubbed.

I have just ordered some superstars haha!

I started a thread and had suggestions of gola, superga, air and grace (£££) and a few others.
