Wedding guest outfit, not a dress what can I wear?

I'm a size 12/14 5'3 with a bit of a belly!
I hate dresses, heels and generally live in jeans.
I have to go to a wedding and everyone is wearing dresses, quiet a formal wedding.
What can I wear? My legs are short and stumpy but if I wear trousers what kind of top will I wear?
I also have back problems so I usually wear trainers, dm, brogues.
Please help me, I'm also on a bit of a tight budget so under £50 ideally

That is a very tight budget for a wedding outfit. I’d go smart trousers, fancy tunic top and flat sandals. Do you have any of those suitable already?

Greenstar22 · 10/06/2022 21:29

I have black trousers and wasn't including shoes in the budget I'll look at tunic tops, I'm useless when it comes to buying clothes

I wore this to a wedding recently glammed up with with gold heels, bag and jewellery - the cranes are more gold than they look in the pic. This website is the best pics but it’s cheaper on others

Vinted is your friend with £50.00 to spend, either once worn or new but selling on.

A jumpsuit would be a great option.

gemsbubbles · 10/06/2022 21:48

ASOS - lots of great jumpsuits 😃 some look quite smart and you can always throw a nice blazer on top with a nice handbag should look quite smart

AnnaKar · 10/06/2022 21:51

An idea - and absolute bargain - new!

could be hemmed to suit your leg length.

Greenstar22 · 10/06/2022 21:51

@mnahmnah I was looking at that exact one earlier but wondered would my stomach look big, maybe ill try it

@Greenstar22

I too have a mum tum! I wore some big control knickers and I found it flattering

AnnaKar · 10/06/2022 21:59

Or a dress, loving the tiered smock. I’m 5ft 2 and really like the relaxed style.

Or a wrap dress.

Greenstar22 · 10/06/2022 22:02

I'm so out of touch I've never heard of a tiered smock dress but they look quite nice. I'm in Ireland and vinted doesn't ship here annoyingly!

This, it's dressier than in photo, go up a size if you have a bit of a belly. It would be easy to make it very dressy with the right shoes and bag .www.weirdfish.co.uk/p/women/all-womens/i/nalani-eco-vero-printed-jumpsuit-dark-blue-19130

Greenstar22 · 11/06/2022 07:11

Thanks I think I'll try some jumpsuits. I was looking on Dorothy perkins EU site, what is a size 12 in EU is it a 40? I can't see a conversion on the website.

You need full length if you have short legs as culottes make legs look even shorter shorter.

linenalltheway · 11/06/2022 10:30

I know you said not a dress but you could wear a floral maxi with your dms and be comfy

Bstarrunner · 18/06/2022 17:35

Silkfred do some really nice jumpsuits that are reasonably priced like this www.silkfred.com/womens/clothing/jumpsuits-and-playsuits/culotte-jumpsuits/girl-in-mind/trixie-angel-sleeve-culotte-jumpsuit-navy-floral

Picoloangel · 18/06/2022 18:42

I think this is lovely

Picoloangel · 18/06/2022 18:42

By this I mean the Lipsy jumpsuit

Ayabbadabbado · 18/06/2022 19:20

That is lovely OP and a super comfy flatform sandal/espadrille.

Mangotea · 19/06/2022 00:44

I’d probably go for a co-ord blazer set with a flowy top. I think high waisted trousers and lose crop top that overlaps the top of trousers (no belly will be in show). Check out boohoo they have lots of blazer co it’s at good prices. Downswing how much time you have you can look at SHEIN, very affordable website
