I need your help Mumsnet!
How do I get dried in blood out of cotton?? I washed my new trousers without realising that there was a spot of period blood on the bum of them, I had obviously leaked and didn’t realise!! The blood had dried in before the wash and didn’t wash out at all, any recommendations? I’ll be devastated if I’ve wrecked them already!!

I've had luck with hydrogen peroxide on stains on sheets.

I find the vanish soap bar can tackle most blood stains.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/06/2022 22:57

Soak them in COLD water with a good handful of salt then wash again.

**preferably over night.

Agree hydrogen peroxide is great.

The Vanish Gold Pre Treat Stain Remover Gel is amazing, I've never not got anything out with it. It has a dabber type top that you use to attack the stain....£4 from Amazon.

I always use milk on blood, it's an enzyme reaction. An a and e doctor gave me the tip. Just put it on and let it soak in for a while, then a long ish wash, not hot.

cliffdiver · 10/06/2022 06:20

When drying, leave in the sun for as long as possible.

Yep, milk is a good one! Read it in a teen magazine somewhere many years ago and it's come in handy a couple of times!

This. It's brilliant.

Cold water soak, bit of vanish, wash as normal, hang in sunlight. You might need to repeat vanish, wash, sun but it should work.
