Hairdresser recommendation for short hair style - Manchester

I'm looking for a new hairdresser in Manchester city centre or South Manchester. I've got short hair (lots of it, but very fine) so I'd be grateful if anyone could recommend a stylist who's good with short styles. (To give you an idea, my hair hero is Miranda Sawyer, so someone who can reproduce that would be great!) Thanks for any suggestions.

I am intimidated by the idea of going into the city centre for a restyle, as I am currently feeling a bit frumpy. However I've had my eye on Peter Regan's salon on (?) Deansgate since seeing some nice work of his. When I pluck up the courage that's where I will go. (My restyle will be short.)

The photos he has posted are a bit too dramatic for my style, but I think he would do a good Miranda Sawyer cut. He prides himself on listening to his clients and he seems to be all about a great cut that you can easily style yourself.

A while back I had a wonderful cut at Vidal Sassoon. The prices are very high and it isn't so much that I mind that as that with the corporate structure a good chunk of it disappears from the building.

Would love to hear pros and cons about PR's salon and any others in the Manchester area from others.

Thank you @easilyintimidated - that’s great advice. I’ll look at both and will let you know how it goes. I’ve just had my hair cut (badly!) so it’ll be a few weeks, but I’m very grateful for your help. Hope you get yours done soon

@easilyintimidated - I've requested an appointment with Peter Regan - thank you again for the suggestion.

I’m so glad you are braver than me! I hope all goes well. I would appreciate hearing about it, if you care to share

I'll let you know how it goes (around 8/9 July if I can get an appointment) and whether it's a pleasant experience; hopefully it'll be a good place for you to try too. Thanks again - really appreciate your suggestion

Following for this too

OOOh. I'd love to see the results.

I love my hairdresser, I think he's a genius. But he's Greater Manchester so no good for you.

I'm always on the look out for other hairdressers though as I live in constant fear that my hairdresser is going to take off round the world- likes he's always dreaming of! Honest, if I won the lottery, the first thing I'd do is secure him as my personal hair dresser !

Where is he and can you link him

@maeveiscurious he’s Simon Glynn at Vivid House in Billinge/Wigan.

Due to current fashions, most of his posts are longer styles but he is amazing cutter. I used to have really short hair but grew it about 5 years ago.
This is my hair! . I have the opposite to you in that my hair is very thick and there’s lots of styles I love that he says just won’t work on me. I’m going shorter after summer and he’s getting excited talking me through options that would work on my hair

@Siddalee that's a beautiful style - thanks for sharing. I live in dread that my amazing hygienist will leave (or retire - made the mistake of finding a lovely person who's older than me!)

hi @easilyintimidated - I hope you're well. Thank you again for the recommendation - I went to Peter Regan last week and am very happy with the cut and experience. He's expert, welcoming, interesting and has great attention to detail. It wasn't intimidating and I'm sure you'd have a pleasant experience. Let me know if you decide to go! Good luck 🍀

Thanks so much for this, @WeAreNewHere .

When travelling a little while back I got some highlights. This was partly to perk myself up and partly because, loathing roots, I thought it would motivate me to try someone new at home. I am so glad you liked PR and you’ve given me the confidence to make an appointment with him. I’m generally fine and hope to be looking it soon, thanks to you. I hope you are also well and enjoying your new look.

I will report here what happens.
