What do you wear for a corporate headshot nowadays?

Tomorrow I have my headshot for my new job. This has been completely sprung on me, so i am last minute panicking! What on earth do people wear for these things?

It's a very male dominated company, and the more recent headshots are of them wearing shirts with the top button undone. Also, the office is smart casual, ie jeans are acceptable, but not common. It's not law or finance or ant of those traditional industries where going full.on corporate dress would be the norm. I feel like smarter than normal, but no suit is what is expected, which is a minefield of no man's land...

My thoughts so far are something in a plain(ish) dark colour that has sleeves...

Plain blouse or simple dress

I'd wear a round neck shell top either plain or subtle patterned.

My dress code is semi formal (no jeans or trainers, but no jackets needed)
No jacket assuming that would be the norm. Plain black may be harsh?
What do you usually wear?
I'd go in my 'important day at work clothes' but not interview clothes. Something unfaded un bobbled and newish looking and smarktish and don't look like it been washed a gazillion times. This for me would be either a black skirt and crepe shell top or a crepey dress. I wouldn't buy anything. I'd make sure I was happy with whole outfits as headshots can be quite wide shot (I wrongly assumed they were neck up)

I'd wear a crisp fitted shirt, classic and won't date. Professional but not too smart.

Where whatever you feel comfortable in.

You might consider wearing something you don’t normally wear / that isn’t your favourite/ easy to recognise coloured jacket or dress …. Because if you use that on your LinkedIn profile you will look exactly like your frozen in time picture every time you wear the clothes and meet people in real life (and it may look like you have only one jacket or dress).

My tip would be make sure your hair looks good. My fave corporate pic over the years I actually took at home with my phone during lockdown on a day I’d been to the hairdresser. I just got home and put a jacket and shirt on and I look v smart on the picture. I’ve had others over the years taken in the office where my hair looks a bit messy (I have very thick hair) and I always cringed when I saw the pic.
