White fitflop trainers - ok or awful?

I want some white trainers to replace my stan smiths which are too hot and uncomfortable. I have mild plantar fasciitis so a flat sole isn't ideal. I quite like these fitflop trainers...but am I kidding myself that they look quite nice? I've always associated fitflop with extreme middle age but as I get middle aged older I am, like everyone does, prioritising comfort!

I prefer the lace up ones but I use elastic laces in all trainers anyway so they’re just as easy to get on and off (no disability I just can’t be faffed with proper laces). I’m mid 30s and I’d wear them. I am definitely not stylish though.

Aha, see the Doesmybumlook40 look is how I was picturing them looking on me. If she was shorter and fatter. I'm not frumpy looking, I don't think, and my clothes are reasonably stylish if not super fashionable, so I reckon I might get away with them. I may buy and report back.

omg, I'm 35 and have been wearing fitflop Rally for years. I had no idea they were a middle-aged thing. I just thought they were nice, unbranded, inoffensive white leather trainers...

Ohbother · 06/06/2022 13:52

Ah but @TirisfalPumpkin that's because you aren't middle aged so you don't have to worry about such things!

My 21 year old daughter has Velcro trainers, when I think of it. The difference is that it’s obvious she doesn’t need them, whereas I am definitely in the territory where people might think I do.

LadyPoison · 06/06/2022 18:52

I also have PF and have been looking at fitflop trainers. I'd wear the lace up once but I'm too old to wear the velcro one ironically.

BingoBungle · 06/06/2022 18:56

I have those trainers! I love them, but then I am in extreme middle age. If only they didn’t have old lady Fitflop branding and came from Japan, everyone would wear them.

Also much prefer straps on white trainers. Laces get dirty very quickly and make the wearer look as if their feet stink. Air & Grace turn my stomach for this reason.

Goldengoosey · 06/06/2022 19:29

I have these ones with straps but in gold. I’ve also got the lace ups in nude leather. They’re super comfy. Way more comfy than my converse, air & Grace, Superga, goldengoose, Nike, Veja and New Balance. I have a lot of trainers 😁

They’re my least stylish in my opinion but I tend to wear them with wide leg jeans so you can’t see that much of them. What won me over was how soft the leather is around the heel especially. No pinching or rubbing or having to wear them in. Good arch support. My arches are gubbed since pandemic. Podiatrist says it’s because I’ve been going barefoot working from home for too long.

So if you’re looking for comfort go for it. I’m thinking of buying these in white too. Obviously because I don’t have enough trainers 😂

Fitflop do the same Rally trainers as a lace up - think the lace ups look much better

Yes definitely the lace ups are much nicer. I have white and silver and they are fantastic.

DarlingCoffee · 06/06/2022 20:04

I have the Velcro rally’s - they are so comfy and I think they look pretty cool. Definitely more edgy than the lace ups. Go for it OP!

CocteauTwin · 06/06/2022 20:36

I live in FitFlops, as I have suffered from plantar fasciitis in the past. The Rally trainers in particular are pure comfort straight from the box. I can walk for miles in them. I have quite a few pairs, and am currently living in the silver velcro ones. I like them, and to be perfectly honest, that's all I care about. If you like them, go for it.
