What to wear to Jubilee pageant tomorrow?

Now that rain is forecast I don't know what to wear. I suppose it won't even matter if I'm sitting there in my raincoat! No umbrellas are allowed. I have a ticket as a competition prize so I have a seat but the stands are not under cover. I was going to wear open-toed sandals but will that look silly? We are allowed a medium-sized bag - shall I carry a big blanket in it? Pageant is all afternoon.

Was going to wear this - but it won't be warm or waterproof enough

Can you get yourself a clear raincoat/poncho?

CheesyWeez · 04/06/2022 09:22

Arenanewbie Oooh yes good idea. I might even have a poncho in the cupboard! Clear would be good and I don't have that. It might say Alton Towers on the one I (might) have.

Looking at the forecast, I would wear a big raincoat and wellies! You'll be miserable if you're stuck in the rain in sandals and a frock.

You’re right I will be miserable if I’m soaked at a fun event. No one is going in order to look at me. I will just go comfortably dressed. Will go for raincoat, AND plastic poncho so the rain doesn’t pool on my seat. 😂

I shouldn't have worried about a thing. You were both right. I would have been miserable in a chilly dress and I took a rain poncho. Everyone else was in random outfits from full-on dress-hat-and-heels to red-white-and-blue jumpsuits with Union Jack trainers or even face paint, rain poncho and flip flops. It miraculously didn't rain at all despite the "90% chance of rain" predictions all week. I was in smart trousers, with warm shoes and a union flag to wave!
Kate didn't wear a hat. The Queen did.
