Summer jackets/coats - smart casual for going out?

I need a lightweight coat or jacket to wear if going out in an evening. I've a denim jacket that looks OK with dresses but nothing to wear with jeans or trousers. I don't suit a short boxy jacket as it makes me look big as it ends at my wide hips. Something that ends below the hips would be better. But a blazer is too smart for my needs and all else I see is utility style jackets with big pockets. Am I missing an option?

Marksies have denim jackets with stretch but they are different colours eg pale pink, khaki pale blue etc and I think an actual
denim one, a bit ore structured than a cardi but not as smart as a blazer if you don’t need to be too smart , the khaki one looks nice with loads of other Colours and good with jeans or smarter black trousers

I've got the ubiquitous denim jacket, leather biker, a couple of old jersey blazers (wore one today), a velvet blazer, and a smarter black blazer, which looks fine with jeans (I'm hoping in a chic Parisian kind of way). Or I've worn denim shirts, flannels. All the options 😂

I bought this in “dark rose” last year after a MN S&B recommendation! It’s very versatile, goes with dresses and jeans.

@CaveMum what is the fit like? I am anywhere from a 14 to an 18 atm. The 16 is out of stock which is normally where I'd start on a non stretchy jacket

@lugeforlife i found the fit quite big across the shoulders for me, so swapped a 10 for an 8. You wouldn’t get a thick top under that though, and I find I have to undo the button when I sit down, so it’s probably dependent on if you like it loose or snug.
