Birkenstock Arizona… worth it?

I want a pair of flippy floppy shoes that I can just throw on for the school run, etc.
I usually like things like timberland Malibu but for some reason these have started to rub 🤨
I also do a lot of walking. I have narrow size 5 feet… do you recommend the arizonas? Never tried Birkenstock before.

I love mine.

sizing can be tricky though. usually I wear a size 40 or 41 but for birkenstock I need size 39 as I have short toes.

NerrSnerr · 15/05/2022 09:37

I find them really comfortable. I could wear them all day.

AverageJoan · 15/05/2022 09:41

I havent tried Arizonas but I wear my Birkenstock Madrids nonstop in summer, love them!

RosesAndHellebores · 15/05/2022 09:44

The pair I bought caused such bad blisters where the straps rubbed that breaking them in was not possible.

Josef Siebel, Hotter, Clarks do sandals of a similar genre and they are much much more comfortable.

I never got on with them as the straps used to rub my feet -I don’t know if it’s because I have wide feet so maybe you will be fine! on the plus side they do resell well if you don’t like them

I also love these - very different style to my Birkenstocks but incredibly comfortable: www.themercantilelondon.com/products/beck-sondergaard-alexis-velcro-multi-colour-sandals

I live in my madrids and will be buying arizona. I have a very high arch and they are so so comfortable. I did have to wear them in but they weren't sore until I did, more that they got more comfortable the more I wore them as they mould to the shape of your foot.

I have narrow , shallow feet and slip through Arizonas but find Gizeh really comfortable and have some new Mayaris that are also very comfortable.I think they are value for money.

I have 5 pairs of Arizona. From Eva rubber ones, nubuck to all leather. I get a pair every year or so. They are great

Birkenstocks are the work of the devil!! Horrible, uncomfortable and exceptionally ugly.

I could not agree more they are repulsive!!

loobylou10 · 15/05/2022 16:57

Helpful!

missmoon · 15/05/2022 18:21

I also have narrow feet and find them very comfortable, although I only wear them around the house and garden. They also do narrow versions, have a look on their website (mine are just the standard version).

edwinatheelephant · 15/05/2022 18:26

They are super comfortable to walk in but does anyone else find them tricky to drive in?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 15/05/2022 18:26

There’s a helpful measurement guide on their website, which involves drawing round your feet. The measurements will recommend your size and whether to buy regular/wide or narrow fit.

EveSix · 15/05/2022 23:01

Edwina, be careful. I have a hunch your insurance could be void if you had an accident while driving in Arizonas? I could be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure my driving instructor vetoed my footwear on a couple of occasions on those grounds, as in "There is literally no way you are getting behind the wheel wearing those. Go change."

I’ve seen people say they can walk for miles in Arizonas but I just can’t see it! I’m a power walker and I’ve never had a pair of sandals, let alone backless sandals, that I can walk for more than a couple of miles in without some discomfort. Arizona owners, are they really that comfortable?? I love the style so i want to be talked into them Grin

for walking slowly for miles at a slow pace they are great but I wouldn't power walk in them.

I could walk for miles in mine if I'm walking with the family on a day out etc. I wouldn't power walk in them but could do a full day walking around Alton towers or somewhere (although they wouldn't be great on rides!!)
