Jacket/cover up for this dress as a wedding guest

Looking for advice/suggestions on what to wear over this dress for a wedding this summer.
It's a lovely dress I've had a while and so few occasions to wear, but it does have lot of shoulder & back that I'd like to be able to cover if the weather turns etc.

I have previously worn it with a white jacket as shown however the bride might be wearing a white suit and I think the jacket is therefore too similar and distracting.

Any suggestions for something to go with this? I feel unless the shade matches perfectly blue will look odd, what other colours will work?
I'll probably be wearing low strappy sandals with it. Haven't decided on what colour for those yet so suggestions there too please. Would tan or pewter be okay?

I posted this on another thread

A shawl or wrap- not a jacket. My personal view that for a wedding or other dressed up do the main focus is the dress.

Unless the jacket is tailored as a 2 piece with the dress ( see eg Camilla and Megan Markle's mum and Oprah at Harry's wedding) wearing a jacket obscures the dress in a way a shawl doesn't. I don't think that white jacket goes at all with your dress.

What colour shawl? White or try to match with blue - something like this?

What about a sheer cover up so one can still see the dress

Pretty dress.
I’d go for a 3/4 sleeve white cashmere cardi for the summer.
could go for a wrap. I’m not personally that keen as I overdid them when they were fashionable a few years back! if you need a coverup whilst you’re inside eating etc a shawl isn’t really practical

Go for a silver colour scheme for the cover up and accessories if the bride is wearing white.

I'd stick with white bit as others have said I'd wear a cardigan, a fluffy bolero style (see the dress Kate middleton wore to her wedding evening do).

The John Lewis scarf is lovely. The white thing isn't.

Depends how it's worn.

I've go with silver, rather than white.

Or a silver shawl/light pashmina.
