Is this dress acceptable for a wedding guest?

Just that. I already own this pale blue dress and would rather not buy another. Bridesmaids will be in dark-coloured slinky dresses so don't think I will be confused for one of them. Bride is wearing white. Don't want to look OTT.

Is that the same dress??? One looks silver/baby blue and the other a darker blue. Is does look very bridesmaidy, but with the right accessories would be fine. Its not white, black, off shoulder, tits showing, too short etc etc.

Throwaway4680 · 11/05/2022 00:15

Yes same dress. Outdoor pic is more true to colour. I want to wear flats for comfort but don't want to look dowdy.

I think that’s fine.

Hatinafield · 11/05/2022 00:25

I think it depends on the style of the wedding but I hope so, cos it’s stunning 😍

Cheesechips · 11/05/2022 00:28

It's lovely!

Snowiscold · 11/05/2022 00:28

Completely fine.

RitaFaircloughsWig · 11/05/2022 00:35

Gorgeous! Where is it from?

Throwaway4680 · 11/05/2022 00:42

Thank you all! Got it from small local retailer several years back, will look for a tag tomorrow 😀

Please, pleas, please, when posters ask questions like this tell us a little about the type of wedding. They can be so different and the attire reflects this.

Church then hotel reception

Time of year? I think it’s lovely but very formal. Almost princess like something I would see one of the Princesses wearing.

Throwaway4680 · 12/05/2022 08:08

Mid July :)

Looks fine to me. Very pretty. Be careful with the choice of flats though.

Aixellency · 12/05/2022 08:34

It’s rare to find anything that’s ‘too formal’ for a wedding - but that really is very bridesmaid-y. It’s the combination of shiny fabric and lace. Even if not the same colour as the actual bridesmaids’ frocks. Are you very close to the wedding party?

But context and venue would make a difference. It would be quite odd looking at a country event - perhaps less so in a city.

I’m sure you look lovely in it - only you can know whether it would suit the mood and mores of the gathering.

Nice dress but with EXACTLY same shoes it's way too matchy matchy. I'd go for nude shoes.

DaleTrimont · 12/05/2022 08:50

Very pretty OP, and completely suitable for a wedding. Silver shoes maybe ? A little hat ?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/05/2022 12:58

It's lovely but to stop it being so bridesmaids-y I'd go really different with the shoes maybe orange? and an orange bag/clutch and earrings (lots of orange tones around this spring/summer so should be easy to find)

Fieldfly · 20/11/2022 08:52

It’s lovely but is quite bridesmaidy, kind of depends how formal everyone else is going to be, can you talk to some other guests? As others have said contrasting non- matchy accessories will be key!

Fieldfly · 20/11/2022 08:55

Definitely NOT silver shoes!!

ZenNudist · 20/11/2022 08:56

It looks like something princess Margaret would have worn in the 60s. Quite unusual but beautifully made. I think it's wedding appropriate. Not sure it's bridesmaidy imo.

SaffronQuoda · 20/11/2022 08:56

ZOMBIE thread. WEDDING HAS BEEN AND GONE.

zurala · 20/11/2022 08:58

It's lovely, really classically elegant. I like the matching shoes but would be careful with bag choice.
This is exactly what I think of when I think of wedding guest outfits.
