Please link me to your go-to stylish trousers for 'fat days'

When I put weight on it always goes straight to my tum and thighs and suddenly my trousers don't fit. I'm a 12 normally but after a holiday where I stuffed myself and general laziness I am no longer fitting in anything.

I used to have a pair of trousers that looked good with a tshirt or top, casual or dressed up (and were comfy and elasticated) that I would wear on my fat days. No idea where they are so time for some new ones.
Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Hush Alexa Harem pants. The most comfy things on earth, but aren't scruffy.

Sorry for the hideous URL issue. I think it still works or you can Google them.

I wear engineered designed bottoms when feeling fat (I'm a 12 too with menopause tum) The slight twisted design of these are perfect.

I have three pairs of the vegan leather and just ordered the cotton version too.
They look fab with trainers or heels.

TartanPyjamas · 11/05/2022 11:49

I've just treated myself to these from hush- was very pleased with the quality when they arrived. Hoping they will work with sandals/trainers/boots. I suppose they might work with heels but I don't seem to wear them any more!

Outside your brief, but this is my new go to for PMT days. Looks so boring in photos but actually looks great with a t-shirt etc.:

Oh ha ha, my JL online website review has been highlighted on the main page of the skirt.

Hideously expensive but the Me+Em sporty joggers are very flattering, I got some in their sale last year and always find myself reaching for them.

I also really like the Amie joggers from Hush and a friend swears by Saint + Sofia but don't know which ones unfortunately.

I am loving these right now, with a not slim, but not baggy logo t-shirt and rolled up sleeves for everything from a lunch out to loafing around on the sofa:

These wide leg trousers from M&S are such a great purchase. Elasticated waist and a good crepe which skims over bumps. They look cool with trainers and a sweater. They look smart with heels and a cami/blouse/blazer. I don’t love the styling in the website list but I would so recommend ignoring that and ordering a pair to try out yourself.

Suja1 · 20/05/2022 20:30

Saint and Sofia do many elasticated trousers of different styles and lengths. Very comfy.

I love my Hush harem trousers from a comfort point of view but they only looked at all smart when they were brand new. I wash them on a gentle 30 cycle but within a year they looked saggy and scruffy.

amorningperson · 20/05/2022 22:17

A wee budget option but these Uniqlo drape joggers are a real godsend! They usually come in and quickly out of stock though- keep checking. I’m around 10-12 and I have sizes s and m depending on the time of the month :)

Another vote for the M&S wide leg trousers. They have elasticated or drawstring waists and are really flattering.

Perfectlystill · 20/05/2022 22:35

Following. Might go for some me&em ones as their stuff is usually well cut

ZaZathecat · 20/05/2022 23:37

Next denim joggers are great for this. I bought them as I get regular bloating and find I want to wear them all the time! They come up big so size down.

I have the wide leg trousers from M&S in the link, they are great. Comfortable with a stretch waistband and come in a short leg length which is ideal for me at 5'4.

I also have the Hush harems but they are not wearing well and to be honest they look too casual for anything other than trainers or Birkenstocks. My Mum asked if I was in my pj's the last time I wore them 😂

Breadstick25 · 21/05/2022 08:36

Google ‘magic trousers’. I’ve just bought a pair from a local boutique but there are loads online. They stretch all over, look smart and wash well - they ping back into shape, no ironing required!

Yes, these are fabulous!

Many who try these keep buying them and nothing else.
Very slimming, leg lengthening plus they wash and iron so easily. Cost about 50 pounds a pair and worth it as they last for years.
Huge array of colours and fabrics.

ive recently bought these clever little things! Size 12/14 here. Can easily be dressed up or down BUT The beautiful fabric doesn’t seem particularly hard wearing so I wouldn’t wear every day, if you see what I mean.

Saisong · 21/05/2022 09:09

I was surprised at the range that m&s had recently. From jersey, cargo pants etc. All very comfortable and in 3 leg lengths. The only style that I didn't like were the chinos because of the stiffer fabrics.

They were totally useless for basic cotton ts and vests though. Such flimsy fabrics, stupidly short and lacking in fitted shapes (I dislike the boxy styles of t-shirts). It's the same the whole high street though - cannot get a decent weight and length fitted white cotton t-shirt for love nor money!

GettingStuffed · 21/05/2022 09:36

These www.peacocks.co.uk/4800340-black_plain.html they're really versatile and look good dressed up with a nice top and proper shoes

Are they hot?

i am peri, feeling the heat, and the Tube is really hot already. My flat is very hot too.

DomingoinLittleOakley · 21/05/2022 11:59

Saint & Sofia Runway pant are very good. They look smart and are very forgiving, but if I were to buy another pair I would go down a size as the waistband does stretch a bit during the day. I always forget this and then I'm on the tube or walking home trying to hoick them back up discreetly which is quite annoying.
