Has anyone had botox while breastfeeding?

First of all, I'm not looking for judgement! Just curious to know if anyone has had botox while breastfeeding.

My son is 10 months and has been EBF (he's obvs now weaning). I feel tired, old and generally hideous and I always feel 10x better when I've had botox. Just wondering what the actual risk is? Would it go into the milk? Surely it's the same as - for instance - drinking alcohol?

Anyone done it?

I have been either pregnant or breastfeeding for like… five years at this stage and SO tempted to get Botox for frown lines. I have resisted just because I can’t quite bring myself to incur any degree of risk to the baby for a cosmetic procedure, though I do think the risk to the child is likely to be somewhat low.

I don’t agree with the comments that there is no evidence on Botox’s effect on lactating mums because it would be impossible ethically to do the study - the reality is it would be perfectly ethical to do Botox on lactating women who were happy to give up breastfeeding - you could happily test their milk for contamination with no ethical worries. It is also obviously in cosmetic companies’ interest to suppress evidence of harmful effects (ie unhelpful studies funded by drug companies do not get published). Just putting this out there for balance given some of the other responses.

I do have a friend who got Botox during pregnancy and then had a stillbirth. I doubt there was any relationship between the two but it has put me off.

@hydriotaphia fair enough. I personally have had Botox twice now while breastfeeding with absolutely no issues, but I would never even consider doing it while pregnant. So I guess it’s down to each person’s individual degree of aversion to risk - much like parenting in general!
