Rosacea flare up after years of good skin

I had rosacea in my late 20s for years then seemed to get on top of it with rosex and just using avene and almond oil. My skin had been great for about 13 years or so….
A couple of months ago I decided to add a couple of La Roche Posay creams/serums to my very basic routine, as I thought after all these years and it being specifically designed for sensitive skin I would be ok 😭. I’m not…. It’s been 2 months now and my skin keeps flaring up; really red and angry. I’m so upset and annoyed at myself for venturing out of my skin routine.
ive been using an old rosex cream but it isn’t having any impact (although it could be out of date I guess).
can anyone recommend anything? I thought I had this cracked years ago. I’m gutted

I've never found that putting on creams helps :( I had to go on the pill to stop my skin from flaring up which is less than ideal.

Wow- hadn’t thought of that as a solution

Is the 2 months how long you have not been using these new creams?

zippyswife · 08/05/2022 19:28

@BaaMoon yes I only used them for 2 days. They reacted quickly and I stopped using them. But seems to have been the trigger for the flare ups since. I’m so annoyed with myself.

Don't be hard on yourself it's really easy to be tempted to add something to the routine. I'd try and get some in date cream and see if that helps. It does take a long time for skin cells to turn over. Good luck x

La Roche Posay makes me flare up too. I've been using Cerave for a while now and it is a great success.

I was on gedarel if that's any good. I'm pregnant now so can't take it so my skin is bad once again. If you're open to it you could ask your gp. But sometimes things like that can make your hormones/moods a bit crazy.

I have used Rozex that I was prescribed but I wasn't really keen on the consistency and it didn't clear it completely.
I signed up for Dermatica for anti aging and they responded that I needed the rosasea treatment. 3 months down the line and my skin has never been so clear, no more redness. You can try it for £2.90 for a month with my link.

I have ivermectin, metronidazole and niacinamide in my prescription.

BaaMoon · 08/05/2022 21:52

Out of interest was it that efficlar stuff? I only ask as many years ago before I had a rosacea diagnosis they were convinced it was acne so I tried it and it was so painful on my skin.

Starrr123 · 02/05/2023 22:23

@zippyswife what helped you? Did it go?

Isabelle70 · 03/05/2023 06:50

@Starrr123 my type 2 rosacea has gone since using Dermatica. The difference in my skin is amazing, no pustules anymore, smooth skin and no redness. I was looking at the weekend to see if it can be cured and I don't think it can so I will continue with the Dermatica. I never want to go back to what I was. I have a code if you want to give it a try, and you can delay the tube as mine lasts 5 weeks.
Head to www.dermatica.co.uk and checkout with code 3LW935

My husband has had rosacea for years seen a dermatologist had ipl treatments everything you can think of! He's used canesten, rosex,Rosalique, nizoral shampoo all in rotation with some success because their effectivity usually wears off after a while. But my DiL gave up cheese realising her skin broke out when she ate it . So I suggested he try that and his skin has been great ever since! Perfect in fact!

Isabelle70 · 03/05/2023 22:26

@Starrr123 my rosacea is different all red and pustules/spots on the chin and nose area. You could upload your photos to Dermatica and they will say if it's rosacea or not. I did originally try signing up for anti aging but they said I needed the rosacea treatment. So that gave me comfort that they don't just prescribe willy nilly.
I did try Rozex from the doctor but I didn't like the texture, too thick and greasy to me and it helped but not as much as the Dermatica has. I have told my doctor about it and he was really interested in the medication they use in the prescription.
