Anyone wearing flared jeans?

Noticing them everywhere but mainly on the younger crowd. I’m 30 and quite like the style of them. Is anyone wearing and loving them?

I'd love recommendations of which ones aer best - I don't like traipsing may shops! Looking for wideish ones but not palazzo. I normally wear medium to dark jeans but I think flares aer nest in pale denim?

My favourite wide leg jeans are from boden. I got them in the sale. They have a petite length which is just right for a 5'3 which is me. I bought them in black, they also have dark blue and light blue I think.

Flares and cropped flares. I’m petite and an inverted triangle and they balance me out and lengthen the legs, really flattering and I’ve been getting lots of compliments. I’m 40.
Mine are from Rouje and & Other Stories.

Which rouje style and are they true to size? My rouje Marais are a size up from my usual

catwomando · 06/05/2022 07:31

Yes, me. I love them.
In the winter with a pair of ankle cowboy boots, in the summer with wedges or trainers.

They are a classic look and very flattering, much more so than skinnies.

47 and loving them. What else do we do as we get older? Wear crappy out of date shit? Hell no. Rock em OP

Ndd135632 · 06/05/2022 07:34

Oh and yep as per @ladygindiva my fave are Boden. And they also have some amazing other hi waist wide trousers that aren’t jeans.

TrufflesForBreakfast · 06/05/2022 07:38

I agree that Boden are brilliant for wide legs - I've been wearing their wide legs and flares for 3 or 4 years now. Skinnies seem so dated now.

LeeMiller · 06/05/2022 08:00

@Sooverthemill I have the Concorde flares and Opera cropped flare in a 26 waist and they’re fairly snug, whereas in Levi’s and & Other Stories I’m a 25 inch waist. So I’d definitely go up a size.
I also love the 70s look of the Saint Ouen flares but I think I might be a bit short. How are the Marais? I’ve been watching Vinted for a pair in my size.

FourFourthsDontCare · 06/05/2022 08:06

Yep! I’m much older than you and I am wearing my vintage J Brand Lovestory lovelies at every possible opportunity.

MoiraQueen · 06/05/2022 08:28

I am stocking up for the next cycle of the awful skinnies!

Although I still like skinnies, there's always a big place in my heart for flares and I always stock up when I find them. Last time round, Sainsburys really got on the bandwagon, with lovely retro 70s details like front patch pockets and plaited pocket edging, even have a pair with the triangular insert on the flared bit.

Sooverthemill · 06/05/2022 09:01

@LeeMiller (great name!) the Marais are fabulous straight jeans. Utterly classic no bells and whistles. I got mine from vestiare at half price ‘worn once’ which I think seems true. I have 2 other things from rouje ( cardigan and bodysuit) and they are great. Thank you I will try size 27 again in those. Also hoping for preloved

LeeMiller · 06/05/2022 09:25

Thanks @Sooverthemillthat’s exactly what I was hoping for so I’ll up my search for the preloaded Marais in my size. I have a fair bit of Rouje as I love the style and the cut of their pieces seems to suit me, but the prices mean it’s almost all from Vinted or Vestiaire.

Are you all wearing full length or cropped?

Im wearing full length, proper retro 90s dragging-on-floor flared jeans. I am 37 btw. I find cropped flares a little strange proportionwise, as though people haven't got the right length for their height.

WeeFecker · 06/05/2022 10:59

What shoes are you all wearing with them? :)

ive seen a few people on nights out in flares or bootcuts with heels it’s like it’s 2001!

Espadrilles, cork sandals, wedges or chunky trainers

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 06/05/2022 13:10

Not a chance, I wore them in the 70's and the material gets everywhere, trips you up.

MoiraQueen · 06/05/2022 13:13

Cork wedge sandals if it ever gets warm enough and cowboy boots (like its 2001😆). Or Converse or Birkis for casual, but flats brings in the issue of wet pavements and water soaking up your legs like blotting paper.

Ndd135632 · 13/05/2022 01:41

Wearing with chunky trainers, flip flops and espadrilles. My DD14 wanted some wide jeans. She is between adult and child size. Went everywhere and found ripped, logo’d cheap looking faded crap. Then chanced on M & S for her black tights and boom a pair of mid blue in ripped un logo wide legged petite size 6 jeans.

Ndd135632 · 13/05/2022 01:42

*unripped

It seems likely the people you're seeing were not also on nights out in 2001, so it's all new for them!

Craftycorvid · 13/05/2022 08:32

I wear all sorts! Flared, not flared, skinny - you name it. I got accused of doing 90s retro recently and I’m not sure it was intended as a compliment. But I care not a jot!
