Side parting - totally out??

So I have tried. And tried. I look, how do I put it - horrible and a bit of a twat with a centre parting 😔.

I suit a slightly off centre parting, but I keep reading this is totally unfashionable.

is it??!

I look quite hideous with a centre parting. It does something not pleasant to my face. I am and always will be a sidey. Not a big sweeping side parting, more a bit left of centre kind of thing.

I couldn't give a fuck what any teen reckons is in or out.

Severus Snape … Founding Fathers - thank you all so much for giving me the language as to why side partings are ill-advised on anyone over 18.

😂

I don't think it's an age thing, I think it's a symmetry thing. Centre partings highlight any facial asymmetry, which most people have.

It is an age thing at the moment, as it fashionable among Gen Z to have a middle parting.

In fact, it’s so fashionable among that cohort that they use siding partings to mock older women as being deeply out of touch. Side partings, and of course skinny jeans.

I tried it once and laughed in the mirror. I have a 9 yo dd though and I'm trying to undo the side parting that I've inflicted on her since birth. I don't want her being the untrendie one because I am, although not sure what pre teens prefer in terms of parting.

My hair finds it’s own parting - it’s slightly off centre

SoManyTshirts · 05/05/2022 22:11

I look like Neil from the Young Ones when I do a centre parting. Also have a widow’s peak so it never looks right.

I currently have a side parting combined with various pins/Alice band to give me more ‘oomph’ on top of my head. Don’t know or care whether it’s fashionable but it keeps it off my face!

I think its funny when they decide a trend for the current early twenties and late teens generation should be appplied to everyone. I mean follow trends all you want but you get to refine your own style when you get older and just pick the parts of trends that suit you if you want.

SpaceJamtart · 05/05/2022 22:28

But then I've not known anyone actually care what women older than them are wearing or doing with their hair. Just a lot of weird articles written by people in their 30s claiming that 'gen z' have decided that certain clothes are unacceptable now. Nobody cares if their parents are not following all the newest trends.
