Help! What to wear clubbing post pandemic & 40+

Have a hen do in 3 weeks - dinner followed by clubbing in Dublin (don't know where yet). I have absolutely no idea what to wear yet 😕

I'm early 40s, size 12, a bit bigger/heavier than usual and feeling self conscious about it.

Jeans? Dress? Heels or trainers?

Would love some advice & suggestions - thank you!

The last time I went out out, I wore a satin animal print slip dress and trainers. The time before I wore cropped fake leather cigarette trousers, cami top blazer and heels. I'm older than you though, so you might not care what I think🤣.

Ooh, I have a night “out out” tomorrow and have been wondering if my outfit is right. I’m early 40s and an optimistic 10 with wobbly bits.
My current plan is a really crisp white (new) T with a Jaspre (midi wrap) skirt from never fully dressed and then some neon block healed mules. But I do have a slip dress that I don’t get to wear often so maybe I should be considering that…

I love both these suggestions - thank you! I have a slip dress I can dig out plus one I've found on Depop 😌

I went "out out" the other week

Hadn't been on a night out since 2019 and I'm the same age as you so really felt stuck

I wore a guns n roses t shirt and a leopard print wrap midi skirt
And pink converse

I felt like I looked awesome! I'm 42 if that helps

Keep the suggestions coming, I have a night out in a few weeks and no idea what to wear. Similar age and size ☺️

Age and size are less important than location and venue. Depending in where you go, 40s women may be wearing anything from full glam and heels to maxi dresses and trainers to jumpsuits or leather leggings and chunky boots. You need someone to do a recce and report back really. Failing that, check out the pictures the venue posts on SM.

I think you've articulated why I'm feeling a bit nervous, the first night we know where we're going and I've decided on a couple of options, the night we go clubbing the venue isn't sorted out yet 😬 (and I hate being overdressed!)

Then I would go with fake leather jeans or leggings and silk strappy top. Then I'd ask what the other hens were wearing. If full on glam I'd team them with some heeled sandals and no jacket. If they were more dressed down I'd wear them with trainers or chunky boots and a blazer.

Leather is pretty sweaty for a club. I'd go for a dress and trainers.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 29/04/2022 11:22

It really depends what sort of club it is - one where people are going to be seen and sip expensive cocktails is very different to one where people properly dance.
I usually go to the latter and so it's always trainers, usually with something like an animal print dress or tailored shorts and a nice t-shirt/cami/vest.
