How to tell if Birkenstocks are the right size

I've just bought some gorgeous Mayaris and despite measuring my feet first am still not sure if they're the right size or if I should return them.

My second two slightly ribs in the front of the footbed when I walk, as does my little toe on the side. They're a 39 which is v annoying as I know that the next size up is way too big as they're such a jump.

Will it be ok or will they just endlessly rub and I'll rue spending £100?

In case it helps I've got EDS , so joint problems and about to have already surgery so I'm specifically looking for footbed sandals to help with gait/posture but which don't need 'flipping' . Vionics no good.

most people tend to wear their birkenstocks too small
(this is my very unscientific study over the years!). your toes should completely be inside the flat bit of the footbed when you are standing still
i love the mayaris!

Are they the narrow fit, if so you could try the standard fit as that would definitely help the little toe issue. FWIW the measuring guide on the Birkenstock site is not great, generally the right size is 1 size down from your normal size. I am a 38 and in Birks wear a 37 in normal width.

Thanks. They are normal width, they are pretty much ok but like I say the edges of a few toes just reach the beginning of the raised footbed.

So annoying, think it's back to the Office version as they fit me perfectly
