Soprano ICE hair removal failure story

Hi everyone,

My sister had Soprano ICE hair removal for her face, neck, navel, arms and legs. Face and lower legs are fine. Lower arms- patchy results. Navel- thinner, but still hairy. Thighs- no difference; still thick. Neck and upper arms- she has way more hair than she did before! In fact, it is new hair growth. The neck and upper arm hair growth is like a man's!

I wanted to know what your thoughts are. Would she be entitled to some sort of compensation? Does anyone have experience with electrolysis?

Was a disclaimer signed before treatment?

I’ve never had a salon treatment like that without signing something that said results could vary significantly.

How many sessions has she had?

Mitosisgirl · 24/04/2022 20:13

She did sign a terms and conditions contract.

It made the hair grow thicker?

Has she spoken to the practitioner who did the treatment?

She has thick hair growth over areas where there was no hair growth. The practitioner tried to convince her that this was not the case.

I don't see how it's possible for a hair removal treatment to create new hair? Is she certain that is the case. Seems to go against science, but I am useless at science. Have you looked it up to see if it's a known side effect? Your poor sister.

It exists. It’s called paradoxical hypertrichosis. Sadly I don’t think you can get compensation as they do
tell you that results vary significantly - it may be in the small print somewhere. I’m so sorry for your sister.

Yes, that's right. It's a side effect called paradoxical hypertrichosis. We are in shock. The results are generally worse than the original issue.

Oh my gosh. I had no idea such a thing existed. Your poor sister!

Mitosisgirl · 26/04/2022 23:02

Yeah, it's absolutely awful. I didn't know it was a thing either. Not sure what our next step should be.
