Beach dress/skirt/cover up recommendations

I'm not comfortable getting drinks or sitting around etc in just my swimsuit. Last beach holiday I tried throwing on a sundress or skirt when I've come out of pool/sea but they get soaked/soggy...doesn't work.
I have a vague memory of wearing knotted sarongs years ago but finding them quite annoying.

Last year I bought a white beach shirt from White Stuff and it’s been life changing. I can wear it undone, buttoned up, sleeves rolled up etc and it’s really easy to slip on.

How about a swim fabric cover up for popping in and out of the sea/pool? Then once you are dry you can put a dress on. The Lands End skort and their other pieces are nice for that

The lands end skorts do look ok actually. I had looked at swim dresses and thought they looked a bit old fashioned. A skirt and tankini top looks vaguely sporty and would be comfy for playing with DC. Will look at shirts too thank you
