I'm going to a wedding in June and fancy a pair of wide leg trousers and matching top to give the effect of jumpsuit without the inconvenience. I'd like a paisley pattern ideally. I have more of a lemonade budget than champagne. I thought I'd found exactly what I want in Next but they can't locate the top the model is wearing Hmm

@Flyinggeese1234 ooh you had me doubting myself - I have just always known. I just googled it and this interesting article came up www.bbc.com/culture/article/20151021-paisley-behind-rocks-favourite-fashion
Also Next is quite infuriating because I've seen it now and nothing will compare Grin

Thanks OP!

Leah2005 · 14/04/2022 18:50

@Chewbecca love the first one - shame it's out if stock - but I've just ordered the second one - but darker than I wanted really but at that price (and free postage) I'll have a look. Great find! But keep looking though Grin

Could you buy 2 pairs of the Next trousers and see if a dressmaker could make you a top from the spare pair of trousers?

Ohjustboreoff · 14/04/2022 19:00

If the groom plus from India how about trying a Salwar Kameez?

I went to an Indian/western wedding and the bride helped me choose one.

@Flyinggeese1234

Hi OP how is paisley connected to India? I’m just intrigued by that.
My family is from Gujarat and and we called the design 'keri', meaning mango. That article is very interesting to find out its roots!
Leah2005 · 14/04/2022 21:41

@Chewbecca that's not a bad shout actually. I do sew myself and was thinking of making something but silk polyester is a nightmare - really slippy and hard to sew.

@justaweeone I contacted them via chat and they couldn't them so advised me to email. I did and they said oh it might actually be an all in one, order it and see what turns up!!! Crazy.

@justaweeone they have shorts too also modelled with the top. Perhaps it is just late to come into stock. So near and yet so far Confused

@Ohjustboreoff the British groom's mum is wearing a beautiful Indian suit so I don't want to jump on that on the wedding day. I am wearing a kameez for the night before.

@defiantly41 I quite like the M&S ones but not sure fir a wedding. I like the JL ones but still seeking the elusive Paisley Smile

I just searched Wolf & Badger for paisley, some interesting options, the Jimena skirt is beautiful

More on theme, how about these trousers? www.wolfandbadger.com/uk/josephine-linen-pant-paisley-print-black/

There is a matching shirt or jacket

Defiantly41 · 15/04/2022 00:33

Or this colour way is nice and possibly more wedding-y
