Please help. Medical weight gain and no idea what to wear...

I need some help. I've put on a stone and half in the last 6 months/year due to medications.

I'm 5'6" and now 13.5stone. I feel awful. I have a lovely party to attend next week and have no idea what to wear anymore. Most weight is around my middle and hips so I can't wear anything too tight. I also have to wear flats.

I still want something flattering, current and on trend if possible.

Any ideas?

What is your body shape?
If proportioned, structure is your friend !

pokerdone · 12/04/2022 21:10

Hi

I don't feel proportioned! My bust is fairly small so I suppose I'm pear shaped. Often size 16s fit me on hips etc but a bit baggy around my boobs Hmm

I think the best thing is forget weight for the minute and get yourself a cloth tape measure and measure properly. Then report back and I’m sure plenty of people will be happy to help. If you are pear shaped then I can tell you what I wear which I feel suits - fit and flare dresses, a line skirts and fitted tops not v neck. I don’t wear straight skirts or those body con tunic dresses. Flowing bottom half and fitted top half is my go to.

Fit and flare sounds like a great idea!

pokerdone · 12/04/2022 22:23

@MrsPear yes I will do that tomorrow and report back.

What does a fit and flare look like? Comes out from the waist?

I think you need to be careful with fit and flare it can look a bit dated depending on the dress. What do you like OP? Ok so you've put on a bit of weight but that doesn't change your taste nor probably your proportions enormously. Post some pics of things you're considering

Hips 47"

Icecreamandapplepie · 15/04/2022 17:45

Ooh, not much help I'm afraid but where is that black dress from?

pokerdone · 15/04/2022 17:51

It's on the Next site but from Quiz.

@thesnaleandthewhail

They look lovely!

Thanks....! But would they suit my newly enlarged silhouette? Confused

BusterGonad · 15/04/2022 18:43

I think the first one may accentuate your smaller bust and larger hips. I think you need a dress that slim lines the hips and adds a bit to the bust area to even you out. So smooth on the bottom half and frills on the top half etc. Or dark bottom half and patterned top!

BusterGonad · 15/04/2022 18:45

And don't worry about your measurements. They are fine. You are fine and will look great. ☺️
BusterGonad · 15/04/2022 18:49

The black dress is lovely and I can imagine it looking great.

pokerdone · 15/04/2022 19:08

Thank you.

I'm picking them up on Monday so may post some pics.

It's impossible to tell before you try them on tbh.

Measurements not an issue. Although not many people are a 38c, have you looked at boob or bust?

Hi, you're right! I'm actually normally 36D but finding it too tight right now.

You sound like a similar shape to me - I think that the shape of the black dress will look better than the first dress - which also looks as if it's a fairly fitted dress but with ruffles on .
