Like converse but comfier

So my beloved navy converse have finally given up the ghost and I'm on the look out for a replacement. I wear them. So much in summer I suppose I could just get another pair, but if I'm being honest, they were always a little narrow and had no cushioning. I'm wondering if there is something out there like converse but a bit comfier and wider.

A friend has some Superga that she wasn't that keen to recommend as they are quite heavy, according to her.

Can anyone here recommend anything similar? TIA.

I got Cariuma as mentioned above - really comfy, loads of colours and properly shaped sole so not flat.

mickeypillow · 12/04/2022 07:05

@SufferingJet

Cariuma. Without a doubt.
Oh they are lovely. Are they definitely comfy?

@runnerbeany

Rocket Dog Jazzin?
These are so comfy, although not exactly converse I would say. I love the patterns though!

Converse are cushioned now! I bought some at Xmas and they're lovely!

converseandjeans · 12/04/2022 08:08

Superga are a good alternative.

Not quite the same but Adidas Stan Smith or Superstar are comfy.

Those Ecco ones aren't anything like converse!

Lacedwithgrace · 12/04/2022 12:35

I wore converse for years then tried a friend's pair of vans and only wear them now. Wider fit than converse (mens not to different to women's but slightly wider). Great sales and plenty of colours/patterns etc

SymbollocksInteractionism · 12/04/2022 13:45

The converse with the platform soles are more cushioned

NormalForNuneaton · 12/04/2022 13:50

I never got on with Superga when I bought some to replace my Converse.

The sizing was odd (I fell between 2 sizes) and they just seemed stiff in comparison to Converse which meant they rubbed my feet.

@Featuredcreature, those are gore-tex shoes for hiking, not quite what the OP wanted, so it seems a bit bizarre that @CiderWithLizzie posted a link to them

CiderWithLizzie · 12/04/2022 15:13

Yes they are hiking shoes but so comfortable and I wear them out and about too. I don’t think they are ugly but I like chunky shoes!

CiderWithLizzie · 12/04/2022 15:16

Maybe these are more what you are looking for?

I’ve got these too!

Mol1628 · 12/04/2022 15:20

Yes converse now so wide fit option and they have newer, comfier insoles.

sjxoxo · 12/04/2022 15:21

Try the Chuck 70s- they are properly padded. They are the premium converse xo

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/04/2022 20:26

If you can find a UK stockist, PF Flyers are very similar to Converse in style, but much, much more comfortable.

goodgodlemon · 12/04/2022 20:40

Another vote for Addidas. So comfy - I once walked 5 miles in a pair straight from the box. I like the canvas ones with stripes - gazelle or campus i think.

Dearmariacountmein · 12/04/2022 20:44

Another vote for Vans. I’ve worn them since O was a teenager. I’ve attempted to move away from them but can never find any that are both wide enough but also comfy and not fugly.

goodgodlemon · 12/04/2022 20:44

Sorry Adidas gazelle and campus are not canvas - but suede.

GumbalinaToothington · 13/04/2022 09:28

Converse have so many different styles now. I have some platform ones that are wider fit and very comfortable.

I've got Gazelles that I bought in august and the sole is already wearing away.

Following as I'm also on the lookout for some casual comfy shoes for spring. My feet are terrible so I need a lot of cushioning. Usually wear Merrells but would like something without laces.
