What do you think of these trainers? Too orthopaedic?

I know, I know another white trainer post!

I'm after some new trainers that I can wear to work so I can keep them cleaner than the ones that also get worn for dog walking etc.

I have a smart/casual dress code so they will be worn with cropped trousers, dresses or wide-legged trousers.

What's the verdict? Practical, smart and fits the bill? Or the kind of thing that should be part of a care worker uniform?

Any alternative suggestions welcome. I prefer leather and a decent sole.

They look like factory safety footwear

Fairislefandango · 01/04/2022 08:03

I really like them. I've seen lots of trainers that do look a bit orthopaedic, but I don't think those do. There's a kind of minimalist look to them that I like.

Echobelly · 01/04/2022 08:04

I agree with @Bobojangles , or something for nurses!

BattledoreAndShuttlecock · 01/04/2022 08:33

If you're very young and cool they'll look cool. Otherwise they'll look like they should be accessorised with a hygienic hairnet in a chicken processing production line.

WeddingFavour · 01/04/2022 09:11

These are almost identical to the shoes on the 'trainers at a wedding' thread where OP is (incorrectly imo) being lauded for how stylish she'll look, so it's interesting that people on this thread aren't keen. Wonder if is cos they're £200... or cos MN hates weddings and dress codes. I think they're fine for work, I wondered if they'd look better in the other colours but actually think the white is nicest.

MuggleMadness · 01/04/2022 09:16

I think if you're under 40, slim & wearing a fresh summer dress etc they'll look lovely.

If you're (like me) the other side of 50, dumpy & in leggings, they'll add to the 'needs help' vibe. Sadly.

superram · 01/04/2022 09:34

They look really uncomfortable and like factory clogs.

Pangolin44 · 01/04/2022 09:41

They're an almost exact copy or Russell and Bromley trainers, just something a bit off with the proportions, I presume the other thread referenced was about the R&B version?

I think it's the slight wedge and more rounded toe that knocks these slightly off-kilter, nothing to do with the price!

I have the R&B version and certainly don't look like a care worker, styled well they look great. I think they'll work really well with the outfits you mentioned OP.

Pangolin44 · 01/04/2022 09:44

These are the R&B ones for reference.

CoconutAmericano · 01/04/2022 10:35

I wear very very similar with my lab coat.

Gonnagetgoing · 01/04/2022 10:46

Not great. They don't seem to have good reviews either.

@WeddingFavour - I think the big difference between those and the the wedding trainers is that they're a lovely green.

I'm of the same opinion to you - I don't think the wedding trainers are stylish at all and wouldn't wear them.

😂
EekThreek · 01/04/2022 10:56

I have them in black, which I've found easier to get away with at work. The white ones do look a bit health care uniform, I don't know why!

They are comfy, but watch the fit because they are a bit slippy on my heels.

peonyandpeaches · 01/04/2022 11:18

I have the R&B ones, I like them Grin

KitchenDancefloor · 01/04/2022 11:18

Thanks everyone. Don't think I could get away with calling myself young or cool.

I'll leave these on the virtual shelf in case I get mistaken for a chicken plucker 😆

That made me Grin

They are a bit on the clumpy side OP.

LittleGwyneth · 01/04/2022 12:35

The R&B ones are nicer in lots of small but very significant ways. But I think these Next ones are totally fine in white, would be nice with tanned ankles and rolled up jeans.

midsomermurderess · 01/04/2022 12:45

I think they look like the green wedding trainers too. I thought those were nicer though, maybe the colour. These in white are a bit HCP.

tokyo1 · 01/04/2022 12:47

Oh really not a fan... Blush

packedlunches · 01/04/2022 13:36

🤣 I actually proper lolled at this. Sorry op I agree
cherrysthename · 01/04/2022 15:02

Fishmonger chic is not a thing. (Sorry!)

KitchenDancefloor · 01/04/2022 18:07

Ok, so chunky white trainers that are too minimalistic are out.

Thoughts on these alternatives (more in my price bracket than R&B, but thank for the suggestion)
