Which dress?

Attending two wedding this year. One in April and one in October. Hoping to get one dress for both.
Here are the ones I am a looking at but each has its minor niggles.
Dress 1- will need control pants and I'd rather not wear if avoidable.
Dress 2- will it itch under my arms
Dress 3- is black and white oaky for a wedding?
Which would you pick?

3

Ohdoleavemealone · 30/03/2022 15:39

It seems most dresses at the moment are midi length but all the models are 6 inches taller than me so it's going to look totally different 😩

[quote RabitWhole]How about this OP? Similar to No 3 but in a more modern style

I've got to be honest - I don't like any of them.

I do love this silkfred one, though.

balalake · 30/03/2022 17:41

I think 2 is the nicest.

sunshinesupermum · 30/03/2022 17:46

3, no question!

Ohdoleavemealone · 30/03/2022 17:59

@stripeyflowers I like it too but it will be 6inches longer on me so probably won't look as good. Looking for something similar that comes to the knee on the model so looks okay on a short arse!

Three for me

KimikosNightmare · 30/03/2022 18:09

I don't much like any of them but the third one of it weren't off- shoulder.

Oddly the silkfred off shoulder dress is the nicest.

LoisLane66 · 31/03/2022 17:56

Why don't you hire one from My wardrobe HQ or a similar site. Then you could have two different ones for different times of the year.

LoisLane66 · 31/03/2022 18:00

Too cold for 3 unless wearing a bolero jacket or shawl.
2 is too frou frou and think of how many times you'd wear it afterwards. Too party-ish.
1 is a bit too dark and as you say, unforgiving unless wearing spanx.

hungrymutha · 31/03/2022 20:49

3 with red shoes?

Vynalbob · 01/04/2022 09:25

2 or 3,
2 gets my vote but just

Greatoutdoors · 01/04/2022 09:30

3 for me too. I thought the same as @KylieCharlene about 1 being a bit dated and 2 a bit bridesmaidy.

Would you be open to alterations? You could get something shortened if length is an issue.

BurnstonesMama · 01/04/2022 09:42

I was wary of Shein too but last year got an amazing dress from there for a wedding, it's lined and everything. I was so impressed by it. And it cost less than £20 but looks much more expensive. Got so many compliments about it, so much so that I am wearing it again this summer to another wedding.

WeddingFavour · 01/04/2022 09:56

@Ohdoleavemealone I like the SilkFred one too. I've used them a few times, I think it's like a sort of department store idea, so you buy through their site but it's a lot of independent retailers that sell on there. It's been hit and miss on quality for me, so make sure you order early so you've got time to find something else if it's rubbish. I've sent back lots of things, it's free returns and I've never had an issue with refunds.

Gonnagetgoing · 01/04/2022 09:58

2 or 3

@WeddingFavour - agree about Silk Fred - and agreed re hit and miss on quality.

I agree with the free returns being good and their CS team are very helpful.

Ohdoleavemealone · 01/04/2022 09:59

Thanks everyone! I have bought a dress. None of the above!

Number 3 easily here. Its a fab dress and I think black and white is a great colour choice for a wedding, despite all black or all white being a no. Maybe a flash of hot pink or a similarly bold colour in your choice of shoes/ wrap/ bag/ hat/whatever. Anyway number 3 is an awesome dress.

ladygindiva · 01/04/2022 10:27

lol just seen your update. pic please!

Fudgemonkeys · 02/04/2022 21:47

2 or 3. 1 looks like a nightdress.

Zazdar · 02/04/2022 22:12

I would have said 2 too. Although it does look a bit like it needs fairy wings and a wand to complete.

WaitinginVain · 02/04/2022 22:22

I think black and white is a good choice for a wedding and have worn it.
