Is a Mulberry Roxanne a bit passe now?

Have seen a beautiful one up for sale, second hand and I think it's a classic, but is it a bit 2006?!

I love my mulberry and don't care what other people think of it. If you love it, buy it.

DedalusBloom · 21/03/2022 08:50

I had a Roxanne and would agree that it is off puttingly heavy. There's not much you can get in those front pockets that are of any use either. I ended up not using mine much at all, although I would agree the leather is lovely and ages beautifully.

I think the look is dated, sorry. But if you love it, get it. That's the whole point of S&B! I still use my knackered Alexa and that's 12 years out of date ( although I see they're having another swing at it with Ms Chung and an updated version).

The Cambridge Satchel company have some designs in a similar style if you wanted something with a buckled vibe:

Sexnotgender · 21/03/2022 08:53

Can I just say it depends on the leather how heavy it is.

Obviously the old Darwin ones weigh a bloody ton but my emerald one is goatskin and really light.

Wow, hit a nerve there. Not common people. Ordinary people imo

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 21/03/2022 09:06

I always wanted a Roxanne and eventually got a second-hand one on Vestiaire a couple of years ago, it is heavy but I love it! I just wish I'd bought one 10 years ago Grin

CurlyFerret · 21/03/2022 09:13

I say if you love it…buy it. The older Mulberry bags are generally better quality but agree about the weight. It would be very dull if we all liked the same things - love seeing a classic style pop up now and again. Also love the LVs posted - love bags far too much!

Not really your attitude makes you come across as an idiot.
TabithaTittlemouse · 21/03/2022 12:50

I think they’re a bit too ‘busy’ but if you like it go for it!

TabithaTittlemouse · 21/03/2022 12:51

@Sexnotgender That bag is stunning!

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/03/2022 12:56

I have one, it’s ancient now which actually makes it look even better, and I like it even more. It is heavy though, and I haven’t used it for a while for that reason. It’s one I will keep for ever and use as and when - defo glad I bought it.

PomRuns · 21/03/2022 13:09

I love mine - I don't think it looks dated at all.

Wow . Equally obnoxious. Who appointed you as style guru for millions of women I love my mulberry bags. . I do like classic expensive clothes and accessories rather than throwaway fashion. And I don’t give a toss if I am being judged by someone dressed top to toe in designer gear .

So chucking money at designer goods (other than Mulberry) and clothes makes you “extraordinary” does it? Sorry but it really doesn’t, it simply makes you a bog standard person who spends a lot of money (or credit) on things with labels. No better or no worse than somebody who buys a single Mulberry bag or shock horror shops in the high street. Astonishing attitude.

There's one here for £99 if you are still thinking about it

Don't know what I am, then. I've just taken delivery of a no label Italian leather bag for work and I am very happy with it. Judge away Grin

That looks pretty trashed. You can definitely pick them up for not much more though in better condition.
DedalusBloom · 21/03/2022 15:37

to be fair, that Ebay one will come up lovely with some saddle soap and/or conditioning cream.

MargosKaftan · 21/03/2022 19:46

I think they are a bit fussy and of their time. But that's my taste, it you like them, go for it. Mulberry bags tend to last well so it will be decent quality compared to a similar aged bag.

When in a hole, stop digging.
Hasselhoffsheadband · 21/03/2022 21:02

Yes, it is a bit outdated but who gives a fuck? I have a Mabel (that I have been dragging around for years 🤣) and it's a great bag so who cares if people with nothing better to think about judge you for is?

KimikosNightmare · 21/03/2022 21:10

I love the designer bags threads because I have absolutely no interest in owning one. So I can happily read threads like this to see what other people like with no fear I'll break the bank and buy one.

I'm quite happy with my selection of practical Radleys (possibly I should have given a trigger warning for dumdumduuuummmmm - I imagine owning a Radley bag makes me a leper) a few Longchamp Pliages a couple of Lulu Guinness and one Aspinal.
