How many mascaras do you own?

Maybe a silly question but I'm wondering how many mascaras you have in your collection. I realised earlier today I might have too many and wondering what is acceptable and what's not? I love Benefit mascaras and have all four minis which is probably ridiculous and two large ones. Also two cheap Essence ones.

I have two. They're exactly the same. But when one starts to dry up slightly I start another. I use the dryer one for the first coat or two and then go over it with the new fresher one for another coat or two.

I find new mascaras are too wet and don't coat and lengthen my lashes as well as one that's been open and used for a few weeks. So after I use the new mascara and it becomes dryer after a 6-8 weeks I throw the dryer of the two mascaras out, and then open a new one and cycle them like that.

One. Chantcallie. The one with the growth serum in. When it's finishing, I may get buy in so I have it ready. But that's it.

sofakingcool · 20/03/2022 19:51

2 - a revolution every day one, and a No7 one for going out

MariaOnCorrie · 20/03/2022 20:29

1 and that's my fave Dior one but have a replacement lined up.

woodhill · 20/03/2022 20:32

I change mine every 3 months and have one open at a time

DidgeDoolittle · 20/03/2022 20:33
  1. Maybelline sky high. Will buy again when runs out.
LondonQueen · 20/03/2022 20:35

Only one but I don't wear it too often, I don't really need it.

Ourlady · 20/03/2022 20:45

I have three, probably should be thrown out as they are way over 6 months old.
I’ve rediscovered my eyelash curlers and forgot what a difference they make. Using them and just the Benefit They’re Real primer stuff makes my lashes look fab.

dementedma · 20/03/2022 20:49

None. It smears and runs so I dont use it

Teadrinker11 · 20/03/2022 22:05

Thanks for all the replies! I definitely have too many and it's not economic either, especially for expensive ones having them all at the same time and then reaching their expiry date.

I have around 6, I keep seeing them on discount and can't resist, I did have 12 so slowly working though them, I only use one at a time, as I know they can dry up once you start to use them.

MinglingFlamingo · 20/03/2022 23:05

7 but only because I'm really fussy over the type of wand I like and they've discontinued the one I really liked

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2022 23:59

I have 3. A black, a navy and a brown-black.

I chop and change, depending what I'm doing, what I'm wearing, and how I'm doing my makeup .Tend to chuck/replace after a year or so.

Time40 · 21/03/2022 00:21

I think the idea that eye make-up can cause infections if it's too old is a lie invented in order to sell more make-up.

dontgobaconmyheart · 21/03/2022 00:48

Just one, I always eke it out until it's a bit too dry really and then just buy it again (from Primark, because its the best i've found and is £3ish).

Mascara doesn't overly excite me. I do wear makeup pretty much every day but just use up what I have and only have one or two of each thing anyway.

Poppins2016 · 21/03/2022 01:02

One. My current favourite is by Soap & Glory (I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it and I think it's better than Benefit and Urban Decay).

What?? This sounds promising. I shall have a look at that as I've never brought myself to buy eyelash serum on its own as I would be vet use it.

I've been using Paradise Lash by L'Oréal too for ages and it's brilliant. But I'm strictly buy one then throw it out, which is always around the 3 month mark.

In related news, I had a corneal ulcer at Christmas ( happy holidays to me!) which was related to contact lens wear. But while talking to the consultant he said that infections from bacteria in make up contribute to eye infections hugely. So please try and be vigilant about mascara hygiene.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Grin

Turningpurple · 21/03/2022 08:56

@DedalusBloom it's pricy but last ages and really does work. My lashes got longer in about 2 weeks. Took about 3 months for them to appear thicker.

Its my splurge item and I keep an eye out for when it's on offer. It's a great mascara as well.

Not water proof, but stays on. Doesn't flake or run. Infact I wore it the day of my Mums funeral in December. Despite the tears it was mainly still there later in the day.

DedalusBloom · 21/03/2022 08:59

Oh I'm so sorry for your loss. Thanks

It's funny how taking comfort in the small things can really help. My mum is a fiend for mascara so I will point her in this direction also !

They go off really quickly. In fact, they are the only cosmetic I pay any attention to the ‘use by’ dates of.

Me too, I have one which I use and replace.
jytdtysrht · 21/03/2022 09:01

None
But people on YouTube have 10 or 20 or 30
So just have what suits you

SapphireSeptember · 21/03/2022 12:39

None, as I don't wear mascara. it's a pain for getting on the inside of my glasses! I love make-up in many forms, just not that.

Definitely. Since she died I have Definitely upped my skin care and make up regime. Complete distraction technique but I am going with it.Smile

Makes my mornings more routine based. Less time to fall apart before work.

And thank you for your Condences. Smile

FazeleysRoyale · 21/03/2022 14:32

One. Currently Rimmel Scandaleyes, the bright orange packaging. It's got a large brush which separates my lashes well and is very moist but just about dry enough not to smear or clump (actually it does sometimes but overall it's good and I will buy again). I'm not really loyal to one type but tend to choose a large brush. When I am ready to replace it I am susceptible to adverts to try something new.

TheChosenTwo · 21/03/2022 14:33

About 12. Half are full size and half are minis.
