Job interview for a pre school! Need to be smart but also ready to play!

I've got an interview on Monday at a pre school. They've asked me to come in for an interview and play session so I need to be smart enough to make a good impression but also able to get on the floor with the kids and prepared to get messy!

It's been a while since I've been at the coalface of childcare, I'm drawing a bit of a blank of the sort of stuff I could wear!

Any ideas? I think I'm going to have to go shopping because my wardrobe is full of dungarees and slouchy jeans!

Jeggings and a smart casual blouse - flat shoes and a smile - good luck and enjoy 😊

I’d probably go with black trousers and a thin ish jumper or shirt.

Hi! I work in a preschool and we've had people in for interviews recently. I've seen dresses with thick tights/leggings and a cardigan or black trousers with a fine knit jumper. Flat black shoes.
It's definitely on the casual side but I would still avoid jeans and trainers. Good luck!

I've been offered jobs whilst wearing all sorts of clothing from smart to casual - including coming straight from job in uniform of polo shirt leggings and trainers 🤷‍♀️

As long as you're sensibly dressed qualified for the job and genuinely love children that's the main thing IMO.

Oooh hadn't considered a dress with leggings. That might work if it's nice enough to get away with 3/4 length, I can't bear wearing full length leggings or tights!

Thanks all, I'll try and find some trousers that have got enough give in them to roll around on the floor but I'll bear the dress/leggings combo in mind as back up!

Smartish casual is definitely fine, just make sure your top is high enough cut and not too loose/ floaty so if you end up crawling on the floor you're not trying to hold on to your top at the same time! Likewise, nothing too low waisted. Good luck!

I’d wear trousers and a blouse with brogues
