Which people do you follow for style tips on Instagram?

I’m in a rut. 51, dumpy (with big boobs which dominate everything I wear!) and feeling old. I’ve spent the last few years in jeans and baggy T-shirts trying (unsuccessfully) to hide but I want to look better.

I’ve discovered Instagram and all the many people who post their clothes etc on there. Thing is, I am drawn to those who dress “classily” - neutral colours, tall and size 8! I follow a few mid-size (I guess that’s me - 14/16) but they are all a lot younger than me and, as lovely as they are to follow, I would not dare wear half of what they do.

So, is there anyone out there that’s my age-ish, 5 foot 4 ish, with a round tummy and even rounder boobs? Who can I follow?

Thanks 😊

Bumping in the hopes someone sees this 🤞

Similar, age , size and shape so following with interest.

gettingalife · 16/03/2022 21:21

Leanne White and Emma Hill are two I follow. I'm 50 and have lost my way with style - these two wear lovely, casual clothes that are really stylish. They're both slim though, unlike me!

I like parisiensinparis and amsterdammers.in.amsterdam for real people of all ages and sizes. I don’t follow influencers, but do like “aspirational” real people (for me that’s people like Alex Hollywood and Gabby Logan) who always look fantastic. I have a photo album on my phone in which I keep screenshots of nice outfits etc and I find that is helping me.

I second Back of the Wardobe

I love Erica Davis.
Her use of colour and the dresses.
Her Sunday styling always has good things in it

JoanThursday · 16/03/2022 21:58

I like Thesilverkat.

ilovelibraries · 16/03/2022 22:02

Some great recommendations, thanks. I do follow backofthewardrobe70 already. But she’s slimmer than me. And doesn’t have problematic big boobs 😂. I do like her style though, she looks great.

I also like thesilverkat, and midlifechic.

For midlife chic, her blog is better than instagram, since she will go into details, and do try-ons of various clothing brands.

I also really like vivienne files for her website. She is brilliant at putting together wardrobes, and helping with packing wardrobes. She is perhaps not as trendy, but her advice really works. She will start a wardrobe in January, and build a few pieces every month, etc.

ilovelibraries · 16/03/2022 22:21

Seems i already follow a few of these. And love the others. But no larger boobed ladies. And clothes fit so differently on us.

Perhaps clothes just don’t look as good, so that’s why we all either go for the corsets / show ‘em off style or just hide under baggy tops.

I like the amsterdammers in amsterdam, parisiensinparis, londoners in London, New Yorkers in New York, accounts too.

I quite like wears my money - she has a blog every week which can be helpful.

Otherwise I mostly follow willowy scandi types who are half my age.....

tumpymummy · 16/03/2022 22:23

Have you looked at popsy dresses? They have a very active Facebook page.

CoconutAmericano · 16/03/2022 22:25

I like Wears My Money

starsinyourpies · 16/03/2022 22:30

Alexandra Stedman

I agree there is a lack of big boobed/normal rest of body influencers!

ilovelibraries · 16/03/2022 22:57

@tumpymummy no. Off to look now. Thanks.

Wears my money is good. But clothes fit so differently. Love her style though.

Laura.adlington ( the lady from the bake off ) she does lots of posts about clothes and she always manages to look lovely - including in a wetsuit when she was away!!

Fairislefandango · 17/03/2022 18:34

Following for recommendations. I love thesilverkat - she's the only one I follow. I love literally every one of her outfits and haven't found anyone else I even like enough to follow. I totally get what you mean though OP - I'm 50 and booby too.

elizzza · 17/03/2022 18:35

annacascarina: late 40s, midsized and the most stylish person I follow, gorgeous classic neutrals and loads of styling advice

disappear_here: younger than you asked for but midsized and I feel like her classic styling will look good on age, beautifully put together and always so sophisticated

stilbloggen: she posts a lot of minimalist style edits that might be helpful to putting outfits together

yvonnekemitelford: late 40s founder of fashion brand Kemi Telford, I love her personal style

Chocolateteabag · 17/03/2022 18:44

Ewelinacanty - I think she is Dutch or German? But she puts together gorgeous neutral compact wardrobes of ideas

Chocolateteabag · 17/03/2022 18:45

FFS - ewelinakanty - helps if I spell her name properly!

SpookyMargot · 17/03/2022 18:48

She's younger but I like instagram.com/siobhans_style?utm_medium=copy_link

Dizzybet74 · 17/03/2022 19:12

I really like 40plusnotgivingupyet she's a real personality. Also lovestyle40 (though she tends to dress far chic'er than me!) And also fabfatand40plus for larger sizes

jb23newmum · 17/03/2022 19:36

I follow ladyofthemanor77 - total opposite to what you are looking for but have found that I can adapt her looks to suit me (I am 5ft 7 and 12/14 and rolls in all the wrong places !) she mixes designer with high street
