Thoughts on this coat?

I've been looking for a light trench style coat and think this fits the bill. I'm quite short at 5 ft 3 and a bit and I hate long line swishy coats.

I thought this one was unfussy, streamlined and hopefully not clingy. Needs to go with a very dressed down look as I live in casual gear with Vejas or NB trainers

Thoughts?

@TheRealHousewife I was wearing a rather beautiful trench at a concert once. A young guy next to me asked if I was a police officer; your comment rings true Grin.

I really like that style of coat in the OP and have been looking for one in a decent colour for ages. John Lewis have a few in although they are a cheaper fabric. I think they suit petite figures well, we don't all need big lapels and flaps all over the place and belts cutting it in half.

NotMeNoNo · 16/03/2022 07:42

Community clothing too.

SheWoreYellow · 16/03/2022 07:44

Really like it. Elegant with a slightly Audrey Hepburn vibe.

Ponks · 16/03/2022 07:50

I love it, it's been on my wish list for ages but I can't justify the price to myself. I was going to say hang on as Whistles regularly do 20% off but see you've already ordered it.

ChickenStripper · 16/03/2022 09:34

I have a couple like this - one from Crew and one is a different Barbour from the one I posted. They are the most useful pieces of clothing ever and instantly make you feel more pulled together and they look smart.

PoxyAndIKnowIt · 16/03/2022 09:46

Oh I love a trench! (Though that one is NOT the "classic trench coat" it describes itself as)

Anyway that is a nice coat, OP, and would work well with different sorts of outfits for much of the year.

PoxyAndIKnowIt · 16/03/2022 09:48

And I love the Columbo look!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/03/2022 09:50

The marketing for beige anoraks in different target demographics always makes me smile.

JanisMoplin · 16/03/2022 10:05

I am like you, OP, in that I dress very casually post pandemic and like unfussy styles. I have this from John Lewis and I like it. www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-a-line-mac/stone/p5610549?sku=240277681&size=14&s_ppc=2dx92700069213846828&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=CjwKCAjwlcaRBhBYEiwAK341jQUyjlByLX8C6zdg3rWPwinLN_BE_ooAr5TIS23Y2Rc8F19_PvotHBoCyxwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Community Clothing is a great shout. Unfortunately the 20% off at Whistles has just been and gone (it's usually around the same time as London Fashion Week).

Hoppinggreen · 16/03/2022 10:35

I like it
I think sometimes if you want something very simple it’s best to pay more for it. Plus it’s classic so should last

FlorencePKettle · 16/03/2022 11:33

@NeverDropYourMooncup Christ yes. I've bought a beige anorak GrinGrin well I'll see what it looks like when on. I'm so stylish, I can pull anything off (a ha ha ha)

FlorencePKettle · 16/03/2022 11:33

@JanisMoplin that's nice - what are you wearing it with?

OP posts:
FindingMeno · 16/03/2022 11:35

She looks like a full size woman in a petite size coat to me. Sorry!
I'd worry about the "dimensions " (wrong word) as the sleeves look on the short side to me!

JanisMoplin · 16/03/2022 13:26

@FlorencePKettle I wear it with exactly what you are wearing it with. I am WFH full time so pretty casual and I don't like billowy stuff because I walk by the river most days. It's A line though so you may need to size down.

NotMeNoNo · 16/03/2022 16:36

For once it's a garment that will look and fit better on an average/short person than the 5ft 9 model, I would take that as a positive.
FlorencePKettle · 17/03/2022 17:05

Coat arrived and it's really lovely! Beautifully lined and looked nice on. Good length on me

Unfortunately it's a bit big and I've really really struggled to get it in a size 12. It's sold out everywhere. Finally found a 12 in selfridges so that arrives tomorrow. So will see if that fits and fingers crossed it's not too small! If it is, I'll keep the larger one maybe because I like it so much

FlorencePKettle · 17/03/2022 17:07

@JanisMoplin you were right! I need to go down a size

Chewchewaboogie · 17/03/2022 17:39

I think its fab ! It can be styled in many ways. It hard getting coats at just over five feet( i kmow )so when you do get a good one its great!
Think it wd look ace with jeans dressed down .
