V neck or round neck?

For tee shirts, tops and jumpers? Or perhaps different for each category...

I always used to go for v necks when younger but switched my allegiance to round neck at some point in my long distant 20s.

You?

I look best in a v-neck or a low round neck.

OstrichFeathers · 15/03/2022 20:45

Where are you all buyung your boat or slash necks? I can't find any.

Kwackerly · 15/03/2022 21:01

Marks have some good plain slash neck tops at the moment, I bought loads as they are perfect under lots of things.

BaileysBreakfast · 15/03/2022 21:11

I’m specifically after cashmere scoop neck jumpers but can’t find any. Crew neck is too high for me and v is boring and reminds me of school uniform.

Thank you! I hadn't noticed the neckline filter before. They look good for layering.

Flat chest in a v neck - ideal is boat neck otherwise round so I look like I have boobs.

@BaileysBreakfast

Why is there no such thing as scoop neck any more Sad
That sort of neckline is harder to make on the cheap. You can tell if the cut and stitching are dodgy because the neckline won’t sit right, unlike a round neck.

And, since the majority of clothes offered for sale are made on the cheap, you won’t see many scoop necks.

(No hardship for me, because I’ve got nothing to put in one).

I'm busty with a short neck (sigh) and boat/slash necks are definitely the most flattering for me. V necks are okay but can look a bit dated/frumpy.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 15/03/2022 22:14

I quite like a sweetheart neckline too.

WaitinginVain · 15/03/2022 22:17

I don't mind any neck apart from polo!

Feel most comfortable in a v-neck and think they probably look best too.

Tiggytico · 15/03/2022 22:30

Another vote for slash/boat neck.

With a 32FF busy, small waist and wide hips, for years I would reach for v-necks. Now the penny has dropped that I am not an hourglass, but a pear with big boobs! V-necks make my narrow shoulders look even more streamlined compared to my hips. I need the width of a boat/slash to balance my hips!

StarlightLady · 16/03/2022 05:46

I have both and like the variety. Like a PP upthread, l miss scoop necks. I also love a (hard to find) V back.

bendmeoverbackwards · 16/03/2022 07:45

I’m quite booby and have a selection of necklines. V-necks are probably more flattering but I really feel the cold and find them not warm enough!

Aria999 · 17/03/2022 00:58

@LightDrizzle I am short with big boobs too and I agree!

Scoop necks are ok but bottom-of-the-throat round necks just look terrible.
