Office wear for the size 18-20 novice office wearer!

Permit me to enjoy the how nice novice and office sound next to each other.......... as you were.

So I need some "office wear" - smart ish trousers, skirts, appropriate shoes, tops and I have no idea where to start having spend the last 20 years of my life in jeans and t shirts. A suitable thigh length coat would be helpful too.

Help very much appreciated - must be suitable for 18-20 and affordable, (ie nothing designer or expensive) M&S prices are my limit.

I just bought this dress and feel pretty amazing in it- looks really smart but the material is soft and stretchy/ giving. Probably about the same cost as a smart skirt and top would be from M&S.

Thankyou all, these suggestions are great - I especially love those dresses that Phase Eight have....... not heard of Phase eight before either. Will check out all suggestions! Tu is a good one as we have a Sainbsburys only 20 mins walk away.

Mango is nice for work wear, they have a really good plus size range, but you may want to size up one or two sizes with them. They also have a sale at the moment, I got a gorgeous mac coat for half price last week.
