Handbag - around £300?

Superquints · 02/03/2022 20:22

I know this probably isn’t a lot to have to spend in the grand scheme of handbags… I could maybe go to £350
I would like something classic but also with a bit of a quirk?
It has to be not super tiny as I carry medical supplies with me.
I’m not sure beyond that really.
Any help appreciated!

(Not you @Juniper68...Just the collective ‘you’ of women who seem to operate under the misapprehension that it’s their business to police the choices other women make with their money. Go elsewhere if it bothers you so much, fgs!)

Anyway...back to bags! Hope you find the perfect one, @Superquints. ☺️

Polene! Im lusting over one but can't afford it right now. Sigh

jojojane · 03/03/2022 13:29

So you really read the name of this post, and felt the need to judge OP for her choices?

OP has not mentioned that she wants a car. She wants a handbag. Your comment is irrelevant and pointless. Unless the point of it was to belittle OP to make yourself feel better, and if so, hope that worked out for you.

Also, a £300 handbag would be better investment than a £300 car.

jojojane · 03/03/2022 13:30

Sorry my post was for @GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

Nnique · 03/03/2022 13:31

Yes Polène has some wonderful pieces! I’m saving for my next bag and it’s going to be very difficult indeed to nail myself down to which one from which brand.

loobylou10 · 03/03/2022 13:32

Coach or Fossil.

HeyMicky · 03/03/2022 13:36

Furla

God no I don't judge. I recently bought a haglof jacket for 300. It's very lightweight and waterproof for long distance walking. I wouldn't even like to think what I've spent on hiking camping gear etc. So people spending 300 on something they can probably sell on is great.

A cool bag I always like the look of is a Bao Bao by Issey Miyake.

TizerorFizz · 03/03/2022 19:15

@Superquints
I have found many high street shops have very good bags for your price range. I would say go for leather and something sturdy and well made.

So: cos and Arket do excellent bags. Look at &Otherstories too. Russell and Bromley will have bags in your price range and I would always look at John Lewis. Ralph Lauren have a great range of bags (look for price reductions) and if you can afford a bit more, DeMellier. A lower price point is Massimo Dutti. Jigsaw do good bags and LKBennett.

Oooo yes! Stunning!
Superquints · 03/03/2022 19:35

I was looking at DeMellier.
Are they reasonable quality?

TizerorFizz · 03/03/2022 20:00

Yes. I think their designs are strong and good hardware quality.

I've been looking at DeMellier recently. I don't own any but the quality looks amazing and they have some beautiful bags. Also endorsed by lots of well known people.

Or you could buy a shit heap rust bucket instead (joking. Buy a beautiful bag and enjoy it).

I wonder how many men get criticised when they post about wanting to spend $xxx on whatever they’re interested in purchasing on other sites.
It’s like a thread about bacon to new vegans. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maireas · 07/03/2022 09:17

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

I don’t understand the obsession with overpriced handbags. You could buy a car for that!

It's not an obsession. Someone is asking for product/style advice.
Maybe your purchasing choices are entirely utilitarian. Who knows.
I would question how reliable your car is for that money, though.

Maireas · 07/03/2022 09:20

In total agreement with @Nnique and others. This misogyny always happens on handbag threads, no matter what the budget.
ps @Nnique - I hope you're wearing your tiara!

Good point. There was a similar thread recently, the OP got loads of criticism for wanting a handbag and someone posted a link to a website where men were discussing buying expensive watches. Guess what? None of the men got this kind of nonsense.

Wagsandclaws · 07/03/2022 09:29

Polene, I've got a couple and they are beautifully made and really lovely.

I have also recently bought a Marc jacobs mini traveller tote in blush pink and the leather on it is stunning. It's a bit in your face brand wise but a really beautiful bag.

My Bag are offering 20 percent off to new customers so I got mine for £308.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/03/2022 09:38

I’ve never heard of Polene but wow those bags are gorgeous!

Alternatively, perhaps buy a bench? Wink
