Boots or Shoes to go with dress

So...I'm going to a friend's birthday meal at a posh restaurant on Saturday, but haven't really given any thought to what to wear until now! I've got a dress a bit like the one in this photo, except with long sleeves. I'd like to wear it with black opaque tights rather than bare legs - but have no clue what boots or shoes would go well with it. I'd need to be able to order online and I can't afford to spend more than around £50-60 max. Any ideas?!?

If wearing black tights you really need to stick to black shoes\boots. Do you have preference re style/heels?
Decent nude tights\hold ups would allow colour pop footwear,which could subtle style accesorise maybe?

Thanks @tolerable. I hadn't thought about nude tights (I think I'm always out off by the whole 'American tan' thing!). I have no idea about the style though - definitely nothing with a really high heel.
