I'm off clothes shopping Wednesday - where should I go? Who's got good stuff in?

I'm going clothes shopping this week for the first time in a couple of years

I need a new coat for sure. But I'm also after a few bits and pieces to perk up my wardrobe, maybe some jumpers, a couple of dresses.

My style is pretty variable. My mainstay is jeans, jumper, boots/pumps. But I also love a good jumpsuit. And the occasional funky dress.

I don't spend lots of money of clothes. I don't mind spending a few hundred quid on Wednesday but I'd want a good haul for that. I'm a New Look, Primark kinda girl. Occasionally TKMaxx (will definitely try there for my coat), sometimes M&S.

Which shops have good stuff in at the moment? Where's it worth going? Last time I went clothes shopping it was all baggy shite that looked straight outta the pages of a 90s grunge magazine. Please tell me shops have moved on from this now?!?!

That sounds fun! I go for similar things and I've just ordered a few bits from M&S - some nice basics, some simple slogan Whistles/Hush-esque sweatshirts and tees, and a couple of jersey midi dresses in nice patterns (khaki leopard / flowery). I'm also going to order a couple of funky casual loungewear bits from Scamp and Dude!

Zara has nice knitwear in right now! I love a jumper and I'm very tempted by some of their offerings. As ever though you'll have to rummage a bit...

Thanks both.
@neonleopard I'd love to see what you've ordered if you'd be happy to link Smile

What kind of coat are you wanting?

hamstersarse · 21/02/2022 15:54

I actually quite like John Lewis now. Loads of different brands in one place - Whistles, Oasis, Mango, All Saints, SuperDry, Sweaty Betty, Hobbs, Ghost, Mulberry, Jigsaw, Monsoon, French Connection, Boden

But then I am a massively lazy shopper and having it all in one place makes it more pleasurable for me

Comvit · 21/02/2022 16:30

No John Lewis where I'm heading. I'm not too keen on John Lewis though, when I have been clothes shopping there I've never found anything I've liked.

I'm after a practical coat - waterproof, with a hood, waist-length, fairly neutral colour. My current coat is very similar to this one I'm after something of a similar vibe.

Primark (big one in Manchester) had loads of nice things in today, loads of nice jeans in various styles, lots of funky tops, jumpers and cardigans in nice spring colours, nice trainers and pumps.
My dd’s found lots of things they liked and although I don’t often buy clothes in primark, I did buy some summery T-shirts and a lovely chunky stripy cardigan.

Zara has some crazy bright colours at the moment.
