so gorgeous and so expensive

But, I was going to buy it for myself as it's my birthday shortly.

or this one, so gorgeous

They're not made of anything particularly fragile, there are tops on m&s and hush made of the same fabrics but wash at 40!

This really puts me off! There I was ready to treat myself to a lovely cool shirt for spring.

Those are pretty!

from Hush, wash at 30 degrees
It's 100% cotton. I don't like it as much but I still like it.

@dudsville

Those are pretty!
I know! and I was in Happy Birthday to ME Smile mode, ready to treat myself to one. I haven't bought any clothes since November. And I see these care instructions and it does put me right off!

Puts me off too—seems they haven’t bothered to pre shrink the cotton and linen fabric they are made from. No excuses for this in this day and age—both cotton and linen have always been tough fabrics that wash well once you get over the initial shrinkage problem, which the manufacturer should take care of before making up the garment.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 20/02/2022 08:55

Oooh they are really nice ! I love the fabric - cool and comfortable in the hot weather and easy to catch the breeze too.

UserBotLurking9to5 · 20/02/2022 08:59

this is from M&S, wash at 40! do NOT dry clean!

I like it. I wonder could I add about a quarter a pot of dylon ecru to die the shirt but not the embroidery.... a plan only Baldrick would support. I might give that a go.

Ah! Right, thank you for that explanation. I was wondering why on earth cotton or linen would need to be handwashed. yes, they should do it for the customer.

I hardly have time for the normal laundry, let alone handwashing.

I wash my dry clean only Hush jumpers on a 40degree wash and they are all perfectly fine.

Tiddlywinkly · 20/02/2022 09:14

Oh, they are gorgeous I agree. Love the 'chilli' colour and design of the first one. Have you read any reviews about the brand? Maybe buy a size up?

UserBotLurking9to5 · 20/02/2022 10:36

I would try that if the shirt weren't so expensive! It'd be an expensive experiment!!

It’s because of the embroidery. Cotton and linen should wash easily enough.

I’d put it in a pillowcase and wash it at 30 gentle cycle.

Slidey23 · 20/02/2022 10:56

The Wrap shirts are just the sort of thing that are likely to be reduced quite a lot in future. I got an embroidered dress last year which was over £100 and I got it for £65 in the end. Maybe get the M&S one for the interim and keep fingers crossed for the others in a sale!

GettingStuffed · 20/02/2022 11:06

Does your machine have a handwash cycle? It's a godsend

UserBotLurking9to5 · 20/02/2022 11:20

Oh right! good plan, I'll go and have a look.

I couldn't handle the prospect of buying clothes that have to be handwashed or dry cleaned so I bought these in the end.

blue lacey peasant-ish top

coral high neck shirt

Not sure, if somebody uses this, will i be emailed a discount?

Inthestillofthenight · 28/02/2022 03:46

I have lots of tops (and bottoms) like that that I bought in India, all hand embroidered, in cotton and linen, I hand washed them all at first then on a gentle wash in the machine in a wash bag.

But my god they are expensive on the Wrap London site, I was paying on average £10 from a local family firm with a huge range good quality. Even better when the sales were on.

I am now living in another hot country where the linen is quite reasonable but still not those London prices!
