Someone must have a recommendation. I need good thickmleggings for smart casual wear

Morrisons! Thick, high waisted with a broad waistband, wash great.

RubyRedRoses · 20/02/2022 10:42

I also like Love Leggings. They are good and thick, but they aren't compression leggings or anything, so don't expect them to suck you in very much. But they're mainly cotton and very comfy

eurochick · 20/02/2022 10:53

Uniqlo. But I don't see how leggings are smarter than jeans.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 20/02/2022 10:59

M and S suede effect ones

Yes! I have some navy ones I bought once on my way to a yoga class as realised I'd forgotten my kit and they're my best leggings!
mintich · 20/02/2022 11:04

I highly recommend the mint velvet ones!

catfunk · 20/02/2022 11:32

I tried some love leggings and hated them!
The bum wasn't big enough so the waistband kind of pulled down at the back, they faded instantly on washing but they were nice and thick.
I've had better pairs from Sainsbury's and new look via ASOS - their 2 pair packs of high waist leggings are v good

catfunk · 20/02/2022 11:33

Also fabletics super power hold are amazing if you need proper engineering, or for actual sport. Have to sign up for a membership though to get the discount (which you then instantly cancel!)

dreamingofsun · 20/02/2022 12:34

i've got two pairs of leggings from Lidl of all places. They were very cheap and i had to buy quite a large size as they came up small. However, for sport they have been surprisingly good - not comfy enough for lounging and they are the nylon type

FrancescaContini · 20/02/2022 12:39

@Enough4me

M&S are pushing encouraging staff to wear gender badges and to let men in women's changing rooms, so I am boycotting them.
Yes, me too. They’ve totally lost my custom.

Gender badges. FFS.

Findingthelight1 · 20/02/2022 12:42

If you need smart casual though, you don't need leggings. They are never, ever, smart.

And I know that comes up a lot of these threads, and usually someone posts a photo of a very thin, very glamorous, model in response, wearing leggings with extremely expensive accessories and says "THERE! Leggings can be smart!" But unless you are also a very thin, very glamorous, model who will be pairing the leggings with top to toe expensive items, I think the point stands...

Ah that's interesting as they fit me great and I am sadly lacking in the bum department!
sparklefarts · 20/02/2022 12:48

Primary fur lined leggings

sparklefarts · 20/02/2022 12:48

Primark *

dreamingofsun · 20/02/2022 13:03

findingthelight....agreed. if i needed something slightly smarter yet comfy i would go for the £15 M&S jeggings and probably size up as mine have all come up smallish

ambereeree · 20/02/2022 13:17

mint velvet ones are great. they don't go baggy at all and stay up nicely.

ritalinda · 20/02/2022 13:44

I have some from boden on the basis of one of these threads previously and they're ok... the material is thick and soft, better than M&S that I have had previously but the waistband is not as thick (even though described as thick) and its elastic has already started to go a bit wibbly. They do go a bit baggy round the knees so I don't think I'd repurchase.

I've not been impressed with mint velvet jeans so I'm not sure id trust their leggings. I might try lululemon or Spanx altho as always they have mixed reviews...

LBB2020 · 20/02/2022 18:37

I’ve had a couple of pairs from Love Leggings. They are lovely, high waisted and thick so not see through at all but they don’t last or wash well! Mine look really washed out and have shrunk Sad

IckyPop · 20/02/2022 18:42

Love leggings. They do different lengths too and absolutely not see through in the slightest.

Mimimayhem18 · 20/02/2022 18:54

I have around 11 pairs of mint velvet leggings and they are the best! I work in a high care manufacturing environment where no pockets or personal items are allowed, but we are still required to be reasonably smart. They are just the job!

RightOnTheEdge · 20/02/2022 19:05

I have got some from Love Leggings and they are really good.
I have got their treggings as well which are comfy like leggings but really thick material.

My favourites are a pair I got from Tesco, they are thick with a wide waist band and are the comfiest things ever.

supadupapupascupa · 23/03/2022 07:14

Sainsburies no longer stocking the luxury leggings above an 18 it seems. Their others are awful.
So I popped into Matalan. In their curve section I picked up some size 22 and omg I'm impressed. Thought they were thin in the packet (£8 very cheap) but in they are perfect! Hoping they wash ok........ they are big if anything size wise

MarianneFaithful · 23/03/2022 07:16

Love Leggings are awful. Morrisons are amazing!

Juniper68 · 23/03/2022 07:21

Which Morrisons ones?

MarianneFaithful · 23/03/2022 13:02

I think they were the soft touch ones. They have a really wide waistband.
