Do coral lipsticks really suit everyone?

If you wear coral lipstick. Which one do you use?
I've just heard they suit everyone. I've never worn a coral lip so looking for suggestions please

Looks rubbish on me

RampantIvy · 15/02/2022 06:51

No, definitely not. I am cool toned and suit red/pinky red. Coral just drains me and makes me look sallow.

MiniTheMinx · 15/02/2022 07:05

I have lots of coral lipsticks. More pink than orange. Pale olive warm toned skin. Dark hair with copper in it when it lightens, dark eyes. Suits me. But then, nothing else does!

WhereAreWeNow · 15/02/2022 12:08

This thread prompted me to have a rummage in my lipsticks and I found one of the only corals that works well on me. Bewitching Coral by Max Factor. Definitely better with a tan but not bad even on my pasty winter complexion. It's nice and bright but it's more pink than orange so works on cool skin tones. Highly recommend.

RainbowCrayons · 15/02/2022 12:38

I'm cool toned so have to be careful with coral. I have a Dior lip glow which is more sheer and less orangey and that looks nice

Cstring · 15/02/2022 17:54

I’m cool toned with very dark hair and blue eyes. It looks dreadful on me, I would have thought it’s a warm colour as it’s orange based.

BurbageBrook · 15/02/2022 17:55

I have olive skin and it does not suit me at all.

erhellerr · 15/02/2022 18:14

I'm blonde, blue eyes, pale cool skin. I was shopping for a new red and the Dior assistant picked out Trafalgar. It's not coral but orange red. I said straight away it wouldn't suit me but she asked me to trust her. She was right, it works perfectly on me.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 15/02/2022 18:21

Warm toned auburn hair and hazel eyes. Thumbs up from me for coral.

FoggySpecs · 15/02/2022 19:04

I don't think I've seen coral suit anybody ever - sorry!

Cotswoldmama · 15/02/2022 20:14

They suit me I have olive skin and dark hair. I like loreal macaron matte lip in guava gush it lasts all day

TeenTraumaTrials · 15/02/2022 20:18

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

Coral would only suit a warm based skin because it’s very orange.

I look shit in coral.

Hmm not true. I am a HoC Bright Spring (blond and pale and most def not warm) and coral is one of my best colours including in lipstick
Littleguggi · 15/02/2022 21:03

I have Indian/ medium brown skin and love MAC Vegas Volt, but the more tanned I get, the less it suits me so I tend to wear it in spring/ early summer

bergamotmint · 15/02/2022 21:03

A friend of mine with platinum blonde hair, and pale, suits it. Though in my opinion it looks very 1980s, when I think it was last popular.

Teddybearen · 15/02/2022 21:05

Definitely doesn’t suit me, I have very cool skin tone and it makes me look a bit ill

LazyMareofEastown · 15/02/2022 21:30

Max Factor Bewitching Coral is a great pinky coral option for those of us too cool-toned for anything orange.

Vibrant without being too in your face. Lovely formula. I wear it a lot in the summer.

anon666 · 15/02/2022 22:25

Whoah, no way do I suit coral.

I have it down as one of those shades you can only wear as a teenager, like shocking pink.

Or if your hair colouring and skin colour mean you can carry it off.

LadyNell · 15/02/2022 22:44

Auburn hair, brown eyes and medium neutral skin coral suits me I tend to wear a sheer gloss rather than lipstick

ChaToilLeam · 15/02/2022 22:48

It’s not good on me, much as I love the colour. I have silver grey hair, grey eyes and a pale cool complexion. True reds and crimson shades look much better.

DedalusBloom · 16/02/2022 08:11

I'm a bright winter with blonde hair and a lot of coral and oranges suit me. It really switched up when I had my teeth whitened. I can wear most colour lipstick now apart from beiges and caramels as I think before the clash was with my teeth rather than my skin tone.

inmyslippers · 16/02/2022 08:18

I love coral. I'm mixed race and tanned

MadameHeisenberg · 16/02/2022 08:21

I’m light blonde with cool-toned, very fair skin and blue eyes. I’ve never found a coral to suit me, despite working for Clinique, MAC and Bobbi Brown when younger. Coral certainly doesn’t suit everyone. Are you sure you’re not confusing it with red? There’s a red for everyone because red can be cool-toned, warm-toned or neutral. But coral is always warm-toned and hence will be jarring on those with cool undertones.

gingercat02 · 16/02/2022 08:22

I love a coral lippy. Current fav is Revlon Kiss me Coral. I'm ginger, blue eyed, Autumn coloured according to HoC

AnotherMansCause · 16/02/2022 08:25

I'm cool toned & very light skinned - most makeup brands don't do a foundation pale enough for me. Coral lipstick, any clothes in yellow, orange, brown etc make me look rather unwell.

hyperspacebug · 16/02/2022 08:25

Dark brunette here with fair neutral skin who did look dreadful in most bright corals - I really like Revlon's Pink In the Afternoon. It's muted pinkish coral. Lipstick made famous by association with Audrey Hepburn.
