I want a fabulous dress for my 40th in a few weeks

Can anyone help?

I'm stumped and cannot find anything I like!

I am quite a mutton dressed as lamb flamboyant dresser usually. Size 10/12.

Attached photo of me in a frock to give you an idea of figure/shape etc, but although I like this one It's a bit 'meh' for a significant birthday. I'd like something really special. The recent 'Mother of the Groom' thread inspired me, I loved most of the ones featured on there.

Show me any fabulous dresses you've seen please! :) (or any brands/types you'd recommend).

I really like this. If they had it in a 12/14 I'd snap it up for a party in going to in a few weeks.

I am coveting a vampire’s wife dress for my 40th. Also thinking of trying one of the dress hire agencies but nervous about sizing etc. unlikely to get more than one wear out of an amazing party dress so would be more sustainable!

Coveted dress:

@FredAstairesChair
What's the budget and what sort of colours do you like?

This metallic number from Maje is a bit of a bargain

And this is elegantly understated - perhaps not mutton enough Grin

And, by contrast, an absolute show stopper

Aw thank you for the compliments. I work out a lot so my legs are toned.

I also have shoulders like a rugby player Grin so have to be a bit careful with certain styles.

I'd consider all budgets, if something i love is seriously too expensive I'll just try to find a cheaper version :)

I love bright colours, but most of my existing dresses are black! I imagine that's common.
I've been searching 'rainbow cocktail dresses' before starting this thread but I'm not great at knowing what suits me if im honest. I'm pale but I usually get an instant tan before going out.. blonde hair. I asked friends and they all said I suit either pink or green. Not so helpful! :)

I went full 70s mini for my 40th. A Zara one. They went out of stock on Zara very quick but I bought mine on Depop with tags, I'm a busty 12 and a L was fine.

Thank you all, I want all of them Grin
:) especially love a lot of them on the revolve site, and the chichi one. And will book Mark all of theses websites and continue rummaging :)
