Don’t know how to dress my shape!

I need help - I used to be a slim 8-10 and found it easy to find clothes that flatter my shape and looked good . A couple of kids and lockdown later and I’m now a 12-14 on top(my shoulders are still size 12 but my belly isn’t!) and 14 on bottom - most of my weight is on my waist so my belly sticks out and I’m really struggling with how to dress this new shape .

I used to wear tight fitting tops but now they look awful . Everything looks awful on me as I am drawn to clothes that used to suit me .

I am going to work on loosing some of the weight but need some help with how to dress now!

Any tips or ideas .

It’s really getting me down

I know there are lots of websites to help people work out what shape they are and therefore what suits them, but if you prefer the personal touch, see if your local shopping centre has a personal shopper service. I know a lot of the ones in major cities do, they are experts at finding clothes that suit all shapes and sizes (and used to be free, although I'd check that first).

Have you tried shift dresses and tights? Or slim/skinny jeans/trousers and a boxy top that skims the middle?

Empire waists, so tighter just the bust but then float away from the body.

Wrap dresses or tops can hide a multiple of parts you don’t like.

I’ve tried several of the calculators that say what your shape is and they always say hourglass which can’t be right as my stomach sticks out!

Will try some wrap tops thank you!
