Thinning hair ... has anyone had a hair transplant?

I'm in my 50s and my hair is getting really thin. I'm so conscious that everywhere I go I have the thinnest and worst hair of anyone there.

I'm seriously considering a hair transplant, as it's affecting my confidence so badly, but I don't really know where to start.

Just wondered if anyone has had this, or know anyone who has and can help point me in the right direction please?

Have you spoken to a trichologist in case there is an underlying issue? Are you on HRT?

I did know someone who’s hair was so thinning she was distraught, she had hardly any left. I nearly didn’t recognise her the next time I saw her as she had her full head of hair back. I saw her through work so never quizzed her as to how she resolved her issue or if it just regrew but I know she was having B12 injections and high iron replacement. Have you had blood tests? Thyroid, iron issues, low vitamin D, low B12/ folate can all cause hair loss, as can menopause.

Would any of these solutions be an option to see you through whilst you research and see if transplant is right for you? It sounds really tough. A work friends mum had such bad post menopausal hair loss that she just had a few strands at the front and her hairline basically started in line with her ears. I would have felt so self conscious, maybe she was just resigned to it. I hope you find something that helps.

Hi, I understand you, and I know how much it affects self-confidence. I started having problems with my hair already at the age of 30, and because of this, I was insecure for a very long time. I used castor oil, which helped for a while, but genetics did its job, and I just went bald. Then I decided that I had to change something and turned to the clinic for Hair Transplant NYC. It was my best choice, and since then, my life has become much better.
