Can I dye my metallic shoes?

Bit of a Heath Robinson one, this! I've got some "pewter" ballet-style pumps that I bought a while ago, and which are a bit scuffed now (but I still like them). Can I dye them balck, or does that not work with metallic style shoes? Any ideas (before I wreck them?)

I wouldn't have thought so but what you could do is get some spray paint and spray them (do it outside with newspaper, somewhere not very windy - that's tricky this time of year!) Good luck!
