Why is my foundation so wrong!?

LefttoherownDevizes · 26/01/2022 09:49

Recently my foundation has just started looking wrong. I don't understand why. I have many of similar shades, some lighter some darker but they just don't match with the rest of me (my face is darker than my neck irl).

Please excuse state of hair and help me, is it too dark/light/yellow/pink?

All the ones I have Ive been matched too, Chanel 20, dior 2n, no7 warm ivory (too dark, Calico too fair), Bobbi Brown warm sand.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

PS skin a bit pink as trying baby steps with OTC retinol after tret disaster, doesn't help

I had this when I was pregnant. Suddenly went weird. Could it be hormone changes?

@Pob13

I use Garnier Combination to Oily Skin BB cream, which seems to be called Oil Free now:

www.garnier.co.uk/our-brands/skin-care/bb-cream-miracle-skin-perfector/garnier-oil-free-bb-cream-spf25-light

It's the one with a blue label. Comes in two shades: Light and Medium.

On offer in Superdrug at the moment:

It's less heavy than foundation and basically makes your skin look better but not totally covered in foundation. I have at least 4 different skin tones on my face and it helps to even them out.

From this photo I think your foundation looks absolutely fine, but appreciate it may not IRL.
I am 44 and in menopause last couple of years. I have noticed subtle changes in my skin, despite being on hrt. It seems slightly drier and not as even as it was. My usual foundation started looking a bit heavy and mask like. I have actually stopped wearing foundation and look much better for it. I use rosehip oil to give my skin a nice glow, then just a touch of concealer where needed, followed by a little powder to set. Sounds counterintuitive to wear less make up when feeling frustrated with your skin, but it really worked for me. My skin feels healthier and looks younger than before. Maybe worth a go

My immediate reaction to your photo was too pink, but it's not especially obvious. I'm fair, blue eyed but definitely a more yellow undertone.

@LefttoherownDevizes - I really like the (relatively) new one by Lancome called Skin Feels Good. Quite light coverage. But buildable.

But you do need to get the right one 035 works great for me, the next time I tried 030 (they'd sold out and I thought it was so close it would be ok) but it always seemed really orange on me, I ended up giving to a friend. Gone back to 035 and all good again!

Generally I've always found Lancome foundations work well.

It could also be that your powder is not truly translucent and is influencing the shade
